In a recent interview with comedian Marc Maron on his \u201cWTF\u201d podcast<\/a>, president Barack Obama once again opened his yapper about gun control in the wake of the mass shooting at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important for folks to understand how hunting and sportsmanship around firearms is really important to a lot of people,\u201d Obama began. \u201cIts part of how they grew up. Its part of the bonding they had with tier dad It evokes all kind of memories and traditions and I think you have to be respectful of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe question is just is there a way of accommodating that legitimate set of traditions with some common sense stuff that prevents a 21-year-old who is angry about something, or confused about something, or is racist, or is deranged from going into a gun store and suddenly is packing and can do enormous harm?\u201d Obama continued.<\/p>\n

Obama mentioned that he was \u201cdisgusted\u201d in the months following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, when the Senate failed to pass significant gun control laws, including universal background check as well as bans on so-called \u201cassault weapons\u201d and \u201chigh-capacity magazines.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that is not something that we have ever fully come to terms with,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd unfortunately, the grip of the NRA on Congress is extremely strong. I don\u2019t foresee any legislative action being taken in this Congress and I don\u2019t foresee any real action being taken until the American public feels a sufficient sense of urgency and they say to themselves, \u2018this is not normal, this is something that we can change, and we\u2019re going to change it.\u2019 And if you don\u2019t have that kind of public and voter pressure then it\u2019s not going to change from the inside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, Obama is right in the sense that this latest shooting ultimately won\u2019t change the way most Americans feel about guns. At the end of the day, most people realize that the Second Amendment is a necessary right that provides security for a free state and an individual a means to protect themselves, their families and their property from evil. <\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s misguided in that he believes there is some law out there or set of laws that will prevent a determined sociopath, racist from acquiring weapons to kill innocents. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
