(Photo: Facebook\/NY Daily News)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A traveling firearms dealer will not be allowed to carry a concealed weapon for self-defense while working in New York City, a judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/new-york\/appeal-shot-firearms-salesman-article-1.2233014\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"judge-denies-new-york-city-handgun-permit-for-traveling-gun-dealer\" title=\"Judge Denies New York City Handgun Permit for Traveling Gun Dealer\">ruled Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Arguing that he needed the handgun permit to defend against \u201ccriminals and terrorists,\u201d who might try to ambush him while he\u2019s out on a sales call, Cavalier Knight filled out an application with the New York City Police Department in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Not long after Knight applied, the NYPD denied his application, saying that Knight has been doing his job for years without incident and failed to show how he was in more danger than others who work within his profession.<\/p>\n<p>Knight, who sells gun through the California firm Armored Mobility took the matter to court, arguing that the NYPD violated his Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Manhattan State Court Judge Michael Stallings backed the NYPD, claiming that the denial of the CCW application did not infringe on Knight\u2019s right to keep and bear arms.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Stallings also rejected the notion that Knight could be a target for criminals and terrorists because he is a traveling arms dealer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat claim is based upon pure speculation, which is unsupported by any evidence,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n<p>New York City is one of the few remaining holdouts in the country with a Constitutionally-dubious, may-issue concealed carry standard that requires one to get arbitrary approval from law enforcement before one is allowed to carry.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, under the may-issue standard, law enforcement requires the applicant to show \u201cgood cause\u201d to justify one\u2019s right to carry, e.g. restraining order, police report documenting violent threats, etc.<\/p>\n<p>But residents in NYC, including Knight, may be able to take solace in a<a href=\"\/blog\/d-c-gun-grabbers-lose-again-federal-judge-junks-good-cause-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"judge-denies-new-york-city-handgun-permit-for-traveling-gun-dealer\" title=\"Judge Denies New York City Handgun Permit for Traveling Gun Dealer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> federal judge\u2019s ruling last week\u00a0<\/a>that struck down the \u201cgood cause\u201d requirement in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>Like New York City, the District has long ban a bastion for draconian gun laws.
