{"id":36657,"date":"2015-05-07T15:25:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-07T19:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=36657"},"modified":"2015-05-07T15:25:23","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T17:00:02","slug":"why-gun-control-is-ultimately-doomed-to-fail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/why-gun-control-is-ultimately-doomed-to-fail\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Gun Control is Ultimately Doomed to Fail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Visionary gun maker and patriot Cody Wilson is teaming up with gun-rights activist Alan Gottlieb and the Second Amendment Foundation to sue the federal government for violating Wilson\u2019s Constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<p>The suit, filed Wednesday, alleges that when Secretary of State John Kerry, the State Department, the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls precluded Wilson from sharing the blueprints to his 3-D printed gun, &#8220;<a href=\"\/blog\/ghost-gunner-making-ars-home-never-easy\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"why-gun-control-is-ultimately-doomed-to-fail\" title=\"Why Gun Control is Ultimately Doomed to Fail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Liberator<\/a>,&#8221;\u00a0it violated his First, Second and Fifth Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s enlightening about the case is that win or lose there is an underlying message for anti-gunners, mainly that in the long run gun control is futile thanks to advances in technology that allow one to make a firearm in one\u2019s own home. \u00a0In other words, home gunsmithing and manufacturing is here!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe technology will break gun control,\u201d said Wilson, co-founder of the non-profit organization, Defense Distributed, in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2015\/05\/07\/designer-3d-printed-gun-challenges-feds-to-constitutional-duel\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"why-gun-control-is-ultimately-doomed-to-fail\" title=\"Why Gun Control is Ultimately Doomed to Fail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News.<\/a> \u201cI stand for freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Economist John Lott also weighed in on the inevitable demise of laws that seek to restrict one\u2019s right to keep and bear arms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c3-D printers mean an end to any gun control,\u201d said Lott, a prolific author and president of the Crime Prevention Research Center. \u201cThe government is not going to be able to ban magazines for guns, or ban guns themselves, and the notions of background checks would be even more impossible to do. Anyone with access to a 3-D printer can make guns functionally and indistinguishable from a gun that can be bought in a store. The government is engaging in behavior that denies this company\u2019s due process under the Fifth Amendment.
