Vice President Wayne LaPierre, he made one thing very, very clear about the upcoming 2016 presidential election. Hillary Clinton is an existential threat to our right to keep and bear arms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur worst fears can be summed up in three words: President Hillary Clinton,\u201d said LaPierre. \u201cLet\u2019s stand and fight. Let\u2019s do it now. Her campaign is running full speed and you and I and NRA need to be at full strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Skeptics will wonder though whether LaPierre is simply blowing smoke or if Hillary really is anti-gun incarnate.<\/p>\n<p>Well, based on what Hillary has said in the past and the fact that her husband Bill, former president, presided over the last federal ban on commonly owned and widely popular firearms and accessories, it\u2019s pretty evident that Clinton is an anathema to the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Below are some of her past statements on the Second Amendment, courtesy of Reason.com which published an article, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2015\/04\/13\/hillary-clinton-on-guns-not-a-big-fan#.lj3xms:nGKr\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hillary-clintons-best-quotes-on-the-second-amendment\" title=\"Hillary Clinton\u2019s Best Quotes on the Second Amendment\">Hillary Clinton on Guns: Not a Big Fan.<\/a>\u201d In my opinion, these are the &#8220;best&#8221; or most telling quotes in that they reveal her true beliefs on gun ownership in the U.S.:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>July 1999:<\/strong> &#8220;If you have guns in your home,&#8221; Clinton tells middle school students on Long Island, &#8220;tell your parents to keep them away from you and your friends and your little brothers and sisters.&#8221; Addressing the National Education Association in Orlando, she says, &#8220;It does not make sense for us at this point in our history to turn our backs on the reality that there are too many guns and too many children have access to those guns\u2014and we have to act to prevent that.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>June 2000:<\/strong> Clinton endorses a bill introduced by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) that would require licensing and registration for handguns. &#8220;I stand in support of this common-sense legislation to license everyone who wishes to purchase a gun,&#8221; she says. &#8220;I also believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry, such as Chuck is proposing.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>January 2008:<\/strong> Asked during a Democratic presidential debate whether &#8220;you&#8217;ve backed off a national licensing [and] registration plan,&#8221; Clinton says, &#8220;Yes.&#8221; She avers that &#8220;we need to enforce the laws that we have on the books&#8221; but adds, &#8220;I would also work to reinstate the assault weapons ban. We now have, once again, police deaths going up around the country, and in large measure because bad guys now have assault weapons again.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>May 2014:<\/strong> &#8220;I think again we&#8217;re way out of balance. We&#8217;ve got to rein in what has become almost an article of faith that almost anybody can have a gun anywhere at any time. And I don&#8217;t believe that is in the best interest of the vast majority of people.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>June 2014:<\/strong> &#8220;I believe that we need a more thoughtful conversation,&#8221; Clinton says while promoting her memoir on CNN. &#8220;We cannot let a minority of people\u2014and that&#8217;s what it is, it is a minority of people\u2014hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.&#8221; She says she favors &#8220;background checks that work&#8221; and twice refers erroneously to mass shooters with &#8220;automatic&#8221; weapons.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Short of saying she want\u2019s to ban all guns everywhere, it\u2019s pretty much all there. That is, at one point or another throughout the past few decades Hillary has expressed every anti-gun position known to the gun community, e.g. a desire to enact registration schemes, licensing, the notion that there are \u201ctoo many guns,\u201d an urge to ban so-called \u201cassault weapons,\u201d the myth that police deaths are increasing because more law-abiding citizens have black rifles, the idea Second Amendment supporters are \u201cterrorizing\u201d the masses, the lie that \u201cautomatic\u201d weapons are being used by mass killers.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Obama, who had a somewhat murky background on gun control while running for president, Hillary\u2019s thoughts and beliefs are well known and well documented. LaPierre is correct, she is a nightmare for our right to keep and bear arms.
