Scott informs Slager that he does not have insurance but is in the process of buying the car.<\/p>\n<p>Slager returns to the car and soon after Scott attempts to exit the vehicle. Slager orders him to return. Not long after, Scott takes off running and leaves the frame of the dash cam.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Bamberg, one of the attorneys for the family, speculated that Scott may have ran away due to his delinquency with respect to child support. According to Charleston County documents obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2015\/04\/09\/us\/south-carolina-police-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"dash-cam-footage-of-fatal-police-shooting-doesnt-change-anything-says-attorney\" title=\"Dash Cam Footage of Fatal Police Shooting \u2018Doesn\u2019t Change Anything,\u2019 says Attorney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>, Scott owes $18,104.43 in child support.<\/p>\n<p>However, Bamberg argued that regardless of the reason why Scott fled, it still doesn\u2019t justify the use of the deadly force.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This dash cam footage does not change the fact that at the moment the officer shot and killed Mr. Scott &#8212; that shooting was completely unjustified. And that is the key point of both the criminal investigation and the civil lawsuit,&#8221; the lawyer said.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation is still ongoing.
