Take the basic Glock idea, flatten it, chamber it in 9mm, and make it disappear under clothing without turning it into something miserable to shoot. Mission accomplished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then Glock complicated the decision in the best possible way. The G43X and G48 arrived in 2019 with longer Slimline grips and more magazine capacity. The G43X kept the slide short, close to the G43 concept, while the G48 stretched the barrel and slide to 4.17 inches. MOS versions followed, bringing factory micro-optic cuts and slim accessory rails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then 2026 changed the math again. Glock announced a factory 15-round metal magazine for the G43X and G48. These pistols have traditionally shipped with 10-round magazines, but current production guns are moving to the new 15-round factory magazine. The G43 still wins when every fraction of an inch matters. The G43X gives you considerably more grip without much more slide. The G48 keeps that same grip and adds barrel length, sight radius, and a little more weight out front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"g43\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Glock G43: Still the Smallest 9mm in the Slimline Family<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The original <a href=\"https:\/\/us.glock.com\/en\/products\/commercial-firearms\/pistols\/g43\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-glock-9mm-single-stack-glock-43-hands-on\" title=\"Which Glock Slimline Should You Carry in 2026?\">G43<\/a> remains the minimalist choice. It is 6.26 inches long and 4.25 inches tall in Glock\u2019s current catalog, with a six-round standard magazine. That capacity looks positively quaint next to modern micro-compacts and the newly updated G43X and G48, but capacity was never the G43\u2019s magic trick. That matters because the grip is usually the part trying to print through your shirt while the slide is minding its own business inside the waistband. For ankle carry, deep concealment, small-body carry, or anybody who simply wants the least amount of Glock possible while staying in 9mm, the G43 still has a reason to exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What you give up is obvious. The grip gives large hands less room to work, the six-round magazine looks stingy in 2026, and Glock does not offer the standard G43 in the same factory MOS configuration as the G43X MOS and G48 MOS. Image credit\/Clay Martin.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/us.glock.com\/en\/products\/commercial-firearms\/pistols\/g43x-us\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-glock-9mm-single-stack-glock-43-hands-on\" title=\"Which Glock Slimline Should You Carry in 2026?\">G43X<\/a> answers one of the original G43\u2019s most obvious complaints: what if I love the thin slide but my hand would also enjoy participating?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The G43X stretches the height to 5.04 inches and gives you a much fuller grip while keeping overall length to 6.50 inches. The barrel remains 3.41 inches. In practical carry terms, it gives you something close to the G43\u2019s short-slide personality with a grip that feels far more like a service pistol than a pocket gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That grip originally held 10 rounds. As of Glock\u2019s 2026 magazine update, current-production G43X pistols are moving to Glock factory 15-round magazines. That is a very different proposition from the pistol Glock introduced in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fifteen rounds in a 1.10-inch-wide Slimline Glock removes one of the biggest reasons shooters used to look past the G43X. You still have more grip to conceal than the original G43, but now that extra grip is doing considerably more work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Shooters who want a thin Glock with a real firing grip, short slide, serious current-production capacity, and an MOS option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"g48\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Glock G48: The Skinny Glock 19 Concept Gets Better<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/us.glock.com\/en\/products\/commercial-firearms\/pistols\/g48\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-glock-9mm-single-stack-glock-43-hands-on\" title=\"Which Glock Slimline Should You Carry in 2026?\">G48<\/a> uses essentially the same grip dimensions as the G43X but stretches overall length to 7.28 inches with a 4.17-inch barrel. That puts more gun below the beltline without adding more grip above it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experienced concealed carriers already know the trick here. A longer slide often hides just fine inside the waistband. The grip is the part that usually gives the game away. The longer Slimline frame is easy to get a full hand around, and the longer barrel and sight radius make the gun behave less like a tiny carry pistol and more like a narrow compact service pistol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Glock\u2019s new factory 15-round magazine, the G48 becomes even harder to dismiss. A thin 9mm with a 4.17-inch barrel and 15-round factory magazine lands very close to the practical role traditionally occupied by the G19, just in a noticeably narrower package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Best for:<\/strong> Shooters who value shootability over shaving the last fraction of an inch from overall length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"capacity\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Glock Factory 15-Round vs. Shield Arms S15 Magazines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where the 2026 update matters most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, the G43X and G48 came with 10-round Glock magazines. Shield Arms changed the conversation with the S15, a flush-fitting 15-round steel magazine that fit the same basic pistol envelope. Suddenly the skinny Glock could carry fifteen rounds without hanging a ridiculous extension below the grip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current S15 Gen 3 remains a 15-round flush-fitting steel magazine for the G43X and G48. Shield Arms also sells upgrade kits that include its steel magazine catch. If you already have an S15-equipped pistol that works well for you, the aftermarket system remains relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Glock changed the equation in April 2026 by announcing its own 15-round Slimline magazine. Glock\u2019s version uses a metal double-stack design and is engineered to work with the standard Glock magazine catch. Current-production G43X and G48 pistols are transitioning to the factory 15-round magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is a major buying distinction. A new buyer no longer has to modify the magazine system just to reach 15-round capacity. You can now keep the capacity argument completely inside the factory Glock ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is one practical wrinkle. The change happened during 2026, so pistols already sitting in distributor and dealer inventory may still be packaged with older 10-round magazines. Check the actual SKU and magazines included with the gun you are buying rather than assuming every box on the shelf changed overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"mos\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">G43X MOS vs. G48 MOS: Red Dots Changed the Slimline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another thing that did not exist when the original G43 hit the range was Glock\u2019s factory Slimline MOS option. The G43X MOS and G48 MOS arrived later with factory slide cuts for compact reflex sights and slim accessory rails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are building a carry pistol around a micro red dot and compact weapon light, the MOS versions are the more natural starting points. The standard G43 still wins the smallest-gun contest, but it requires additional work if your end goal is a factory-style optics setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The G43X MOS keeps the shorter slide and full-height Slimline grip. The G48 MOS gives you the same grip with the longer slide and barrel. Pick the one based more on how you want the pistol to shoot and carry than on capacity, because those two now share the same factory magazine story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"original-review\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Original Glock G43 Hands-On Review: Finally, the Single-Stack 9mm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not a conjecture or speculation article. The G43 is here, and I shot it at Glock. After pushing around 150 rounds through the G43 9mm I am in love with yet another ugly Glock. There is more. This G43 single-stack 9mm is exactly what \u201cwe,\u201d the public, asked for, begged for, and whined about when the G42 .380 ACP was introduced last year. Everyone said that they would buy a single-stack Glock 9mm if it was about the same size as the G42. Well, prepare to pull out your cash and fall in love with yet another boringly reliable Glock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the introduction of the G43, two wondrous things happened concerning Glock. This is one of the first pistols developed almost exclusively to satisfy US market demands and screams of passion. The G43 introduction also coincides with Glock US giving writers a peek behind its factory doors for the first time ever, and I was invited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first week of March 2015, I found myself in the midst of ten other writers invited to this exclusive Glock G43 unveiling plus a behind-the-scenes factory tour, which I must admit was more exciting to me than the \u201cfinally\u201d introduction of the new G43. For me, being one of the first editors in the world to step behind the previously closed factory doors for a tour was a legitimate and exciting reason to hop on a plane to Smyrna, Georgia. My take on what I saw behind those doors is another article altogether, but I am sure everyone is more interested in the G43 at this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of us were shocked, surprised, or stunned about being handed G43 NDAs, non-disclosure agreements. I mean, come on, who was Glock kidding? We had all heard the rumors and speculation two months earlier at SHOT Show that something else was coming from Glock. In fact, none of us were particularly surprised or animated when Mike Robinson, head of Glock US Marketing, formally announced the new G43 arrival. I was the smart ass in the room who blurted out, \u201cWell finally, so when do we start the factory tour?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all should have been chomping at the bit to get our hands on the G43 at the range. However, we weren&#8217;t. None of us wanted to rush to the end of the day to start shooting this glorious new pistol, which we knew would feel just like every other Glock we had ever shot. It says something about the confidence a group of cynical writers have in Glock to get it right the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the pistol was in hand, our gut feelings were confirmed that it was exactly as our minds had imagined it. Boringly reliable, it felt and shot like a Glock, but in a slimmer single-stack design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two hours I spent with the gun during and after the range time was more than enough for me to form an initial opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/G43-Right.jpg\" alt=\"Right-side view of the Glock G43 showing its compact size compared with the Glock G42\" class=\"wp-image-34674\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/G43-Right.jpg 800w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/G43-Right-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/G43-Right-400x266.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Just a hair bigger than the GLOCK 42 (which is one of the larger .380s).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Glock G43 Size and Ergonomics: The Original Slimline Formula<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon walking into the GSSF shooting range, most of us immediately noted that, in fact, the 9mm G43 was indeed nearly the same size as the mind-bogglingly popular G42 .380 ACP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The G43 looks and feels like the G42 and G26 hooked up one night. From a size perspective, the G43 is just over a 1\/16&#8243; wider than the G42, only about a 1\/4&#8243; longer and about 1\/16&#8243; taller. In the naked hand, there is a difference. However, I doubt many would \u201cfeel\u201d the difference between the two guns unless they had shot both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The guns felt and looked so similar that we all were constantly checking ammo, magazines, and gun labeling to ensure we did not inadvertently stick the wrong round in a G43 or G42. I did try swapping magazines, and I am happy to report from a safety perspective that the G42 magazine will not lock up in the G43 and the G43 magazine will not fit in the G42. Still, with all the 9mm and .380 ACP ammo on the tables, it was easy to get a little confused about whether you were stuffing .380 ACP ammo into 9mm magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Considering that the width difference between the new G43 and the G26 is the same 1\/8&#8243; increase as there was from the G42 to the G43, I found it a little surprising how much fatter in the waist and in the hand the G26 felt after shooting the G43. For example, Kahr\u2019s CM9 is still smaller than even the G42, 3\/4&#8243; shorter in length than the G43 and 1\/4&#8243; shorter in height. The size of the G43 is what makes the G43 controllable, shootable, and accurate while still delivering a size that you can comfortably stick in your front pocket. I call it the Goldilocks principle. It\u2019s just right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"range\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">150 Rounds Through the Glock G43: We Tried to Make It Fail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much like the G42 feels like a Glock, the G43 delivers the same feel. The trigger distance, feel, and reset could all be mistaken for a fatter double-stack G26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By my estimate, I ran a little over 150 rounds through the G43, as did all the other writers attending the release, and no one had a single jam, but we tried. One writer did an extreme limp-wrist test, another shot the gun upside down, and I did a full gangsta sideways shooting test. The net result was no jams or malfunctions on any of the three test pistols that we hammered on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like the G42, the G43 has significantly less recoil than you would expect from a gun that size. The G42 .380 Glock is a delight to shoot with recoil that seems almost like a rimfire even with hotter loads. The 9mm G43 is a bit snappier, however, far less than I have experienced with my Kahr CM9 or Walther PPS pistols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did not have the opportunity to shoot the G43 directly against competitors. It became a fat stumpy hand around a small thing gripping exercise, which inevitably leads to swapping between a thumbs-forward, Israeli tucked-thumbs, support-hand finger-guard grip, which I liked the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By contrast, all the female writers locked in on the G43 and were hammering out rounds. The guys with bigger and fatter hands seemed to all do the unconscious grip shuffle we all do with tiny little guns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The G43 is very controllable but a bit snappy. After approximately 150 rounds I was done with shooting the G43. This is quite a bit of shooting for a small pistol and I felt it. Comparing the recoil to the fatter double-stack G26, the heavier G26 is more controllable and less fatiguing on the shooter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have and do train all day with the G26 9mm. However, I don\u2019t know that I would put past an hour shooting the G43. As much as Glock has done to mitigate recoil and improve control, the G43 still is shooting a hot 9mm round out of a small pistol, so Newtonian physics still applies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did jump back on the G42 .380 ACP and could have shot that the rest of the day due to the low recoil. Must be a GLOCK.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Glock G43 Accuracy: 1.5 to 2 Inches at 7 Yards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From an accuracy perspective, I was able to deliver several brisk 6-round 3\u201d groups on the 7-yard line. More conscious target shooting dropped those group sizes down into the 1.5-2\u201d range with the CCI Blazer brass FMJ ammo provided at the range. Across the board, I noted all the writers shot the pistol very well, from fast shooting to slow deliberate accuracy shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the watchful eye of marketing and GSSF range officers, I slipped the G43 into pockets and in the waistband and did a little shooting from concealment. Glock is going to sell millions of these. The G43 is the Slimline 9mm we have all been waiting for. Even without a holster, it is slim, nicely radiused, and melts into your waistband just like the G42 did. Holster manufacturers will come online fast with options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Original G43 Verdict: Glock Finally Built the Gun We Asked For<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We live in amazing times of pre-sliced bread, enough technology to produce self-cooking bacon, and now we have a single-stack 9mm from Glock. The Glock 43 9mm will be met with such anticipation and expectation that I will congratulate you for actually reading this far instead of just sprinting to your firearms dealer to place your order after reading the headline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My initial experience with the new Glock single-stack 9mm validated that it is everything we all were hoping for in a Glock-produced package. But just like every Glock introduction, I am sure many will wish it was larger, smaller, or offered in a different caliber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Original G43 vs. G42 vs. G26 Specifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Historical note:<\/strong> The following specifications are preserved exactly from the original launch review. Used G43s are commonly less expensive, with recent 2026 tracked examples around $290 to $350 depending on condition and source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The G43X MOS commonly lands in roughly the $439 to $549 range in current new-gun tracking. A plain G43X, G43X MOS, G48, G48 MOS, and factory optic package are not the same product wearing different price tags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"verdict\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which Glock Slimline Should You Buy in 2026?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Buy the Glock G43 if:<\/strong> concealment is the entire mission. It is the shortest-gripped 9mm Glock in this group, easiest to hide, and still offers exactly the boring Glock reliability that impressed us at the original launch. Six rounds is no longer impressive, but neither is leaving the pistol at home because the larger gun was annoying to carry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Buy the Glock G43X if:<\/strong> you want the best balance of short slide, full firing grip, factory optics capability, and current-production 15-round capacity. For most concealed-carry buyers shopping this family in 2026, this is the easy answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Buy the Glock G48 if:<\/strong> shootability matters more than shaving slide length. It uses the same grip height and current magazine system as the G43X but adds a 4.17-inch barrel and longer sight radius. If the extra slide disappears inside your waistband anyway, there is a strong argument for taking the extra gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our overall pick:<\/strong> The G43X has become the center of the Slimline family. The original G43 still wins the deep-concealment contest, and the G48 is arguably the sweetest shooter, but a G43X with a factory 15-round magazine removes enough of the old compromises that it is difficult to argue against for general concealed carry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a certain irony to all of this. Apparently Glock owners did not stop whining.
