{"id":34551,"date":"2015-03-13T15:58:29","date_gmt":"2015-03-13T19:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=34551"},"modified":"2015-03-13T15:58:29","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T13:22:41","slug":"giuliani-cop-who-shot-michael-brown-should-be-commended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/giuliani-cop-who-shot-michael-brown-should-be-commended\/","title":{"rendered":"Giuliani: \u2018Cop Who Shot Michael Brown Should be Commended\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style='text-align:center'><\/div>\n<p>Was the fatal police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown justified?<\/p>\n<p>Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani believes it was.<\/p>\n<p>While appearing on Fox News Thursday, Giuliani opined that Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson was not only justified in killing Brown back in August, but ought to be \u201ccommended\u201d for it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What happened in Ferguson is that a man committed a robbery, attempted to assault a police officer, and the police officer &#8212; to save his life &#8212; shot him,&#8221; Giuliani told Fox News. &#8220;The police officer did his duty. The officer should be commended for what he did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This month the Department of Justice announced that Wilson will not face criminal charges for using deadly force against the unarmed teen, which echoed what a grand jury concluded in November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wilson&#8217;s actions do not constitute prosecutable violations&#8221; of federal civil rights law, said DOJ prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Wilson was not indicted for shooting Brown has exacerbated an already tense relationship between police and protesters, those who believe the teen us unjustifiably shot.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, two police officers were shot while standing guard at a demonstration. It\u2019s unclear what the motive for the shooting was, but it wouldn\u2019t be all that shocking if it was later revealed to be some sort of sick retaliation.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder blasted the individual responsible for the shooting, which he called a \u201cdisgusting and cowardly attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What happened last night was a pure ambush,&#8221; Holder said Wednesday. &#8220;This was not someone trying to bring healing to Ferguson.
