{"id":34108,"date":"2015-03-02T17:21:36","date_gmt":"2015-03-02T22:21:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=34108"},"modified":"2015-03-02T17:21:36","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T13:49:20","slug":"cop-open-carry-advocate-can-try-constitutional-crap-want","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/cop-open-carry-advocate-can-try-constitutional-crap-want\/","title":{"rendered":"Cop to Open Carry Advocate: &#8216;You can try this Constitutional Crap all you want&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another showdown between open carry advocates and the men and women in blue has folks talking.<\/p>\n<p>This latest confrontation happened down in Houston, Texas, where a member of Open Carry Texas (OCT) was detained, handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car after being stopped by officers with the Houston Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The OCT member was carrying an AR-15 when he was stopped by the officer, who apparently was responding to a call about a man wearing a kilt and carrying a rifle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you have ID on you,&#8221; the officer asked in the video. &#8220;No. So, how am I supposed to know whether or not you&#8217;re a felon?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Frustrated by the OCT member&#8217;s response about not &#8220;consenting to questioning,&#8221; the officer refers to Second Amendment as &#8220;constitutional crap&#8221; and &#8220;constitutional bull****.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.khou.com\/story\/news\/2015\/02\/26\/officer-confronts-open-carry-demonstrator\/24040017\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"cop-open-carry-advocate-can-try-constitutional-crap-want\" title=\"Cop to Open Carry Advocate: 'You can try this Constitutional Crap all you want'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KHOU<\/a> that the department will now be investigating the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, OCT leaders are not happy with the way in which police are responding to their demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpen Carry Texas demands that Houston Police Officers cease their harassment of law abiding Texans,&#8221; OCT President CJ Grisham said in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OpenCarryTexas\/posts\/828369673876321\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"cop-open-carry-advocate-can-try-constitutional-crap-want\" title=\"Cop to Open Carry Advocate: 'You can try this Constitutional Crap all you want'\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> statement on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Further, dispatchers need to be better trained to ask follow up questions of citizens making calls for service.
