In an interview with MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry on Sunday, Attorney General Eric Holder spoke once again about the failure to bring about tougher gun laws in the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.<\/p>\n
“The gun lobby simply won, you know?” told Harris-Perry. She then went on to ask the Holder on whether we are a “nation of cowards” when it comes to gun-control reform. <\/p>\n
“I don’t think we are a nation of cowards,” said Holder. “But I think that members of Congress need to have a little more backbone and stand up to what is a distinct minority even within, for instance, the N.R.A., and do the kinds of reasonable things that the American people simply want to have happen.”<\/p>\n
After serving as the nation’s top law dog for six years, Holder is on his way out the door. He is stepping down. His probable replacement, Loretta Lynch, should be approve by the Senate to take over in March.<\/p>\n
