Cimarron<\/a><\/a> is one of the leaders in the reproduction of 19th century firearms. Even if they don’t manufacture the guns themselves, they refine them. I stopped by their booth at SHOT Show to see what new revolvers they had.\u00a0 Of course new<\/em> is a relative term.\u00a0 Both of the new revolvers they showcased are based on the Colt 1873. So new old<\/em> revolvers.<\/p>\n

The first one the gentleman, I say gentleman because he was dressed in late 19th century attire, pulled out of the case was a beauty. Take a look at the photos to see what I mean.\u00a0 This was a very nicely done, laser engraved Peace Maker. The bluing was dark and rich and the French grey style finish helped the engraving pop. The MSRP was right at $500. So new technology and old technology, and reasonably priced, too.<\/p>\n

The other revolver I got a chance to look at was a prototype.\u00a0 I hope they make this one so I can buy one. It has a few things that set it apart from other Peace Maker style revolvers.\u00a0 First it has an octagonal barrel that just looks cool.\u00a0 It also has a short stroke hammer for faster cocking, a popular custom style upgrade a lot of SASS shooters do to their competition guns.\u00a0 The other big difference is the grip.\u00a0 This, as-yet-unnamed revolver has the grip frame of a Colt Walker.\u00a0 This is a grip for shooters with big hands.\u00a0 See the photo below for a comparison.<\/p>\n
