(<em>Photo: Moms Demand Action Facebook Pag<\/em>e)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is ramping up pressure on Kroger this holiday season in an effort to persuade the retail food chain corporation to ban <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/brand\/italian-firearms-group\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"moms-ramp-pressure-12-days-kroger-campaign\" title=\"Moms Ramp Up Pressure with '12 Days of Kroger' Campaign\" target=\"_blank\">open carry<\/a> in their stores.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve that objective, Moms launched its &#8220;12 Days of Kroger&#8221; campaign Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the next 12 weekdays, we\u2019ll be contacting a different Kroger-owned grocery chain each day and asking them to prohibit open-carry of guns in their stores,&#8221; said the group on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MomsDemandAction?fref=photo\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"moms-ramp-pressure-12-days-kroger-campaign\" title=\"Moms Ramp Up Pressure with '12 Days of Kroger' Campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, members dropped off petitions signed by shoppers and patrons of Fred Meyer, an Oregon-based grocery store chain purchased by Kroger in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to worry about gunmen in the supermarket as my child and I shop for groceries,\u201d Anneliese Davis, a volunteer with Oregon state chapter of Moms Demand Action, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/momsdemandaction.org\/in-the-news\/parents-deliver-petition-signatures-fred-meyer-headquarters-calling-president-lynn-gust-prohibit-open-carry\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"moms-ramp-pressure-12-days-kroger-campaign\" title=\"Moms Ramp Up Pressure with '12 Days of Kroger' Campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is far too easy for criminals and other dangerous people to get a gun in America without a background check, and I\u2019m uncomfortable shopping at a store that puts gun extremists ahead of the safety of my family. Fred Meyer should prohibit the open carry of firearms immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oregon members of Moms Demand Action are also actively fighting for universal background checks.
