In fact, one can argue the opposite is true based on the numbers which is to say more guns in the hands of law-abiding gun owners has the potential to reduce crime rates.<\/p>\n<p>The first graph comes from the FBI&#8217;s latest report, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/news\/stories\/2014\/november\/crime-statistics-for-2013-released\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"one-needs-know-guns-crime-three-charts\" title=\"All one needs to know about guns and crime in three charts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crime in the United States,<\/a>&#8221; which was released on Monday and shows the downward trend in the number of reported violent crimes over the past five years.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_27156\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/violent-crime.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"one-needs-know-guns-crime-three-charts\" title=\"All one needs to know about guns and crime in three charts\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27156\" title=\"All one needs to know about guns and crime in three charts\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27156\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/violent-crime.jpg\" alt=\"FBI violent crime \" width=\"540\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/violent-crime.jpg 540w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/violent-crime-150x147.jpg 150w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/violent-crime-305x300.jpg 305w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-27156\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reported instances of violent violent crime. \u00a0(<em>Photo: FBI<\/em>)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Violent crime fell 4.4 percent and property crime fell 4.1 percent when compared to 2012 figures, according to the report. It shows the expansion of concealed carry law from 2002 through 2012. Overall, the progression nationwide is from restrictive standards &#8216;no-issue&#8217; aka ban on concealed carry or &#8216;may-issue&#8217; (discretionary permitting) to permissive standards &#8216;shall-issue&#8217; (non-discretionary permitting) and Constitutional or permit-less carry. In 2014, all 50 states including the District of Columbia have legalized concealed carry, though D.C. is currently fighting tooth and nail to keep revive it&#8217;s ban.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_27157\" style=\"width: 565px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Conceal-Carry.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"one-needs-know-guns-crime-three-charts\" title=\"All one needs to know about guns and crime in three charts\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27157\" title=\"All one needs to know about guns and crime in three charts\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27157\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Conceal-Carry.jpg\" alt=\"Expansion of concealed carry.
