Buyers who were previously undecided often move quickly when they believe a firearm, magazine or ammunition may soon become restricted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gottlieb expects semiautomatic rifles and pistols to receive particular attention from lawmakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe gun control crowd may attempt to pass legislation relating to modern semiautomatic rifles and pistols in anticipation of the Supreme Court ruling on whether these firearms are protected by the Second Amendment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-7-creedmoor-takes-2nd-in-nrl-hunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"blue-wave-election-gun-buying-surge\" title=\"Will the Blue Tsunami Trigger a Gun-Buying Surge?\">7 Creedmoor Takes 2nd in NRL Hunter<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat could easily ignite a semi-auto buying surge, so nobody should be surprised when that happens. When you tell Americans they can\u2019t have something, they rush to buy whatever it is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Democratic control of Congress does not guarantee that sweeping federal gun legislation will become law. President Donald Trump would retain veto power, and the Senate\u2019s procedural rules could still make passing controversial measures difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The picture may be different at the state level. Democrats gained several governorships and made major advances in state legislatures, potentially opening new paths for firearm restrictions in states where the party will control both the legislative and executive branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-demand-was-already-rising\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Demand Was Already Rising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was &quot;composition&quot;\u2014whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. \n\nSo, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we&#8217;re going to shock the world? &quot;No,&quot; he told me. &quot;We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump\/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us.&quot;\n\nWell, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump\/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.  \n\nThere will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn\u2019t sharp enough down the stretch. I\u2019m sure that\u2019s true. \n\nBut the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. \n\nAnother pollster\u2014one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we\u2019d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:\n\n1) End the war\n2) Focus on cost of living\/inflation\n3) Put America First\n4) Change our relationship to Israel\n\nOur voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She\u2019s also a great person.)\n\nIn the next few months, there&#8217;s going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I&#8217;m open to the idea that we should change enforcement\u2014by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. \n\nThe reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. \n\nIf you&#8217;d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that&#8217;s at least honest.\n\nBut everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.\n\nI remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, \u201cI told you so\u201d: you\u2019re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. That was a 7.9% increase over October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adjusted NICS checks are not a direct count of firearms sold. One check can cover multiple firearms, and some legal transfers do not require a new NICS check. Still, the numbers provide a useful look at activity inside licensed gun stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If CCRKBA is right, October\u2019s increase may be only the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gottlieb also expects the election results to boost memberships and donations for national gun-rights organizations preparing for new legislative and courtroom battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWatch the gun prohibition movement to once again be unintentionally responsible for surging gun and ammunition sales,\u201d he said, \u201cand for renewed and energized support for groups fighting to defend the American heritage and Bill of Rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first real indication will arrive with November\u2019s adjusted NICS report.
