Buyer’s Guide: How To Choose The Best Burris Scopes In 2026

Burris optics range from simple hunting scopes to digital precision gear, so start with how far you shoot and what you are hunting.

Match The Scope To Your Distance

Most deer hunters never need more than 16x. A scope like the Fullfield 4-16×50 has enough magnification for woods and open country and keeps weight down. If you shoot steel past 600 yards or compete, look at first focal plane scopes with exposed turrets like the RT25, XTR II and XTR III. For fast close range shooting on an AR, see our best LPVO scopes.

First Or Second Focal Plane

A first focal plane reticle grows and shrinks with magnification, so the holdover marks are correct at any power. That is why the RT25, XTR II, XTR III and Veracity PH use it. A second focal plane reticle, like the Ballistic E3 on the Fullfield, stays the same size and is only correct at one magnification, but it is simple and easy to see at low power. Our RT25 reviewer noted first focal plane reticles carry some tradeoffs, such as a thin reticle at low power.

MOA Or MIL

Pick one system and stick with it for your reticle and turrets. The RT25 and XTR III we tested were MRAD with the SCR2 reticle. The Veracity PH is MOA only, and our reviewer’s one real wish was for Burris to offer it in MILs. Hunting scopes like the Fullfield use MOA holdovers.

Electronics And Hunting Laws

The Veracity PH has a digital elevation knob and a heads up display, and it connects to the BurrisConnect app over Bluetooth. Our reviewer warned that some states do not allow electronic features in scopes for big game hunting, so check your state’s rules before you take it after deer or elk.

Burris Red Dots

Burris FastFire dots are some of the original affordable micro red dots. The FastFire 4 still uses the older Docter footprint, while the newer FastFire E uses the Aimpoint ACRO footprint and an enclosed emitter. We also covered the polymer FastFire C at launch, but that was a product announcement, not a hands-on review. Our reviewer was not happy with the Burris SpeedBead shotgun mount, which crept upward on his Remington 870 under buckshot, though he said the FastFire 3 on it worked without any issues.

The Forever Warranty

Our RT25 reviewer pointed out that the Burris Forever Warranty does not require a warranty card, a receipt or that you be the original owner. That makes a used Burris scope a safer buy than many brands.

Best Burris Scopes Ranked: 2026 Product Roundup

Burris Fullfield 4-16×50: Best Burris Scope For Hunting (2026)

The Burris Fullfield 4-16×50 is the best Burris scope for hunting because it gives you bright glass, a useful holdover reticle and capped turrets at a budget price. Our reviewer said it has a great chance of ending up on one of his rifles and that it punches way above its weight class.

Read our full Burris Fullfield 4-16×50 review here.

Most of his shots happen at dawn and dusk, and he said the 50 mm objective pulled in plenty of light and let him see every bullet hole when zeroing at 100 yards. With a 100 yard zero, the Ballistic E3 reticle gives holds at about 200, 300 and 400 yards for a typical caliber, with a small illuminated center. MSRP was $468 with the Ballistic E3 reticle, $456 with the Wind Ret and $420 with a Plex at the time of review in 2025.

Burris Veracity PH 4-20×50: Best Burris Smart Scope (2026)

The Burris Veracity PH 4-20×50 is the best Burris smart scope because its digital elevation knob and heads up display let you dial for distance without counting clicks. Our reviewer ranged a steel target at 675 yards, turned the knob until the display matched the yardage and shot, and said each shot impacted exactly where expected.

Read our full Burris Veracity PH 4-20×50 review here.

The click-less PEK turret reads to 0.1 MOA, the display shows dialed distance, wind hold, cant and battery, and the BurrisConnect app stores rifle and ammo profiles. He said zeroing was easy and tracking was consistent. The downsides: no onboard environmental sensors, so you must update conditions in the app, MOA only, and electronics that may not be legal for big game in some states. MSRP was about $1,560, with street prices of about $1,000 to $1,200 at the time of review in 2025.

Key Specs

- Magnification: 4 to 20x

- Objective: 50 mm ED glass

- Tube: 30 mm

- Weight: about 29 oz

- Price: about $1,560 MSRP, $1,000 to $1,200 street at the time of review (2025)

Pros

- No click counting

- Heads up display with cant

- App based ballistic profiles

- Accurate to 675 yards on steel

Cons

- No onboard environmental sensors

Burris XTR III 5.5-30×56: Best Burris Scope For Precision Rifle (2026)

The Burris XTR III 5.5-30×56 is the best Burris scope for precision rifle shooting because it tracked perfectly and, in our reviewer’s words, competes well with scopes costing $1,000 more. It has a 34 mm tube with up to 26 mils of internal elevation and the SCR2 mil reticle, broken into 0.2 mil increments.

Read our full Burris XTR III review here.

He ran a tracking test through 16 mils with no problems, then gave the turrets a workout dialing 12 to 15 mils to shoot a .22 LR out to 300 yards. He praised the glass for a true to life image with good contrast and resolution that let him stay behind the scope for long periods without eyestrain. Street price was about $1,850 at the time of review in 2020.

Key Specs

- Magnification: 5.5 to 30x

- Elevation: up to 26 mils

- Reticle: SCR2 mil, first focal plane

- Price: about $1,850 street at the time of review (2020)

Burris RT25 5-25x: Best Budget Burris Long Range Scope (2026)

The Burris RT25 is the best budget Burris long range scope because it gives beginners a 5-25x first focal plane scope with the SCR2 reticle at an MSRP of $734 at the time of review in 2021. Our reviewer mounted it on a Bergara B14R and ran a 10 mil tall target test, then shot an NRL22X match with stages out to 400 yards.

Read our full Burris RT25 review here.

It is 14.3 inches long and weighs just under 25 ounces. He found edge to edge sharpness very good with no discernible distortion, some chromatic aberration, and a tight eye box at high magnification, which he said is common at this price. Zeroed at 50 yards, it still had 15.4 mils of elevation left, plenty for 300 yard rimfire shots. He highly recommended the RT line for shooters who need an optic that performs without breaking the bank.

Key Specs

- Magnification: 5 to 25x

- Reticle: SCR2, MRAD, first focal plane

- Weight: just under 25 oz

- Price: $734 MSRP at the time of review (2021)

Pros

- Affordable first focal plane scope

- Passed tall target testing

- Good edge to edge sharpness

- Forever Warranty

Cons

- Tight eye box at high power

Burris XTR II 4-20×50: Best Burris Entry Level Competition Scope (2026)

The Burris XTR II 4-20×50 is the best Burris entry level competition scope because it checks the boxes our reviewer wants in a match scope: a first focal plane reticle, parallax adjustment, accurate turrets and dependability. He used it on several rifles for close to a year with no issues.

Read our full Burris XTR II 4-20×50 review here.

On a Bergara HMR he was dead on at 100 yards, got five good hits on steel at 300, then dialed 6.8 mils for an 830 yard shot and came back to confirm zero. He found the tracking spot on and said the SCR reticle breaks down to 0.1 mil for holds and ranging. It is not on the level of scopes that cost about $1,000 more, he said, but MSRP was $1,149 at the time of review in 2017. Burris has since added the XTR III, so check what is current.

Key Specs

- Magnification: 4 to 20x

- Objective: 50 mm

- Tube: 34 mm

- Reticle: SCR, first focal plane

- Elevation: 26.2 mils (90 MOA)

- Weight: 30.9 oz

- Price: $1,149 MSRP at the time of review (2017)

Pros

- A year of use without issues

- Spot on tracking

- Hits out to 830 yards

- Compact for a 4-20x

Cons

- Older review

The Burris 3-12×32 Handgun Scope is the best Burris scope for handgun hunting because it has the long eye relief a pistol needs and a simple Ballistic Plex holdover reticle. Our reviewer mounted it on a Nosler Custom Handgun with Burris Signature Zee rings and needed about 12 to 13 inches of eye relief.

Read our full Burris Handgun Scope review here.

Zeroing was easy, and his shots moved steadily with the 1/8 MOA clicks. A front parallax ring adjusts from 7 yards to infinity, and the scope took some good bouncing around in hunting blinds and vehicles. He called it handy, compact and ready for hunting and recreational shooting. MSRP was $539 at the time of review in 2018, and he found it online for $100 less.

Key Specs

- Magnification: 3 to 12x

- Reticle: Ballistic Plex

- Eye relief: 10 to 19 in at low power, 10 to 12.5 in at high

- Click value: 1/8 MOA

- Parallax: 7 yd to infinity

- Length: 10.8 in

- Weight: 16 oz

- Price: $539 MSRP at the time of review (2018)

- Simple holdover reticle

- Front parallax adjustment

- Rugged in the field

Cons

- Eye relief takes practice

Burris FastFire E: Best Burris Red Dot For Pistols (2026)

The Burris FastFire E is the best Burris red dot for pistols because it is the first enclosed emitter FastFire, with a 3.5 MOA always on dot, the common Aimpoint ACRO footprint and a side battery that changes without losing zero. Our reviewer ran it on an ACRO cut Glock 19 slide and said he never had any issues.

Read our full Burris FastFire E review here.

He tested parallax on a tripod at 13 yards and the dot moved only about 3/4 inch from corner to corner, which he called impressive compared to many competitors. The 22 by 17 mm window is generous, and the battery is rated at 60,000 hours. He wanted easier turret adjustments than the included T10 Torx and one more brightness level. MSRP was $420 at the time of review in 2025.

Key Specs

- Type: enclosed emitter

- Footprint: Aimpoint ACRO

- Reticle: 3.5 MOA dot

- Window: 22 x 17 mm

- Adjustment range: 100 MOA

- Battery: CR2032, side loading, rated 60,000 hours

- Price: $420 MSRP at the time of review (2025)

Pros

- Enclosed emitter

- Very little parallax shift

- Side battery access

- Sits low on an ACRO cut slide

Cons

- Turrets need a T10 Torx

- Wanted one more brightness level

Burris FastFire 4: Best Budget Burris Red Dot (2026)

The Burris FastFire 4 is the best budget Burris red dot because it gives you four reticles, a big window and a screw-on weather shield for about $280 to $300 at the time of review in 2024. Our reviewer has used a FastFire 3 for nearly a decade and said the FastFire 4 punches above its price point.

Read our full Burris FastFire 4 review here.

The window measures 1.1 by 0.75 inches and the dot weighs 1.6 ounces. The weather shield screws on to create what is essentially an enclosed emitter. He ran it on a Beretta PMXs with the included Picatinny mount, zeroed it easily with tactile clicks, and said it never failed in a few hundred rounds. His complaints were the older Docter footprint, an 11 MOA circle-dot that looks like one big dot, and buttons that cycle in one direction.

Key Specs

- Footprint: Docter, Picatinny mount included

- Reticles: 3 MOA dot, 11 MOA dot, circle dot options (four total)

- Window: 1.1 x 0.75 in

- Weight: 1.6 oz

- Extra: screw-on weather shield

- Price: about $280 to $300 at the time of review (2024)

Pros

- Four reticles

- Large window

- Weather shield

- Affordable

Cons

- Older Docter footprint

- 11 MOA circle dot looks like one big dot

- Buttons cycle one way

The best Burris scope for most hunters is the Fullfield 4-16×50, with bright glass and a simple holdover reticle at a budget price. The Veracity PH is the smart scope for long range dialing, the XTR III is the precision pick, and the RT25 and XTR II are first focal plane options for less. Handgun hunters should look at the 3-12×32 Handgun Scope, and pistol shooters should start with the enclosed FastFire E or the budget FastFire 4.

The Burris XTR II 4-20×50 is the best Burris entry level competition scope because it checks the boxes our reviewer wants in a match scope: a first focal plane reticle, parallax adjustment, accurate turrets and dependability. He used it on several rifles for close to a year with no issues.

Key Specs

- Weight: 1.6 oz

- Extra: screw-on weather shield

- Price: about $280 to $300 at the time of review (2024)

Pros

-

- Four reticles

- Large window

- Weather shield

- Affordable

Cons

Final Thoughts On The Best Burris Scopes Of 2026

The best Burris scope for most hunters is the Fullfield 4-16×50, with bright glass and a simple holdover reticle at a budget price. The Veracity PH is the smart scope for long range dialing, the XTR III is the precision pick, and the RT25 and XTR II are first focal plane options for less. Handgun hunters should look at the 3-12×32 Handgun Scope, and pistol shooters should start with the enclosed FastFire E or the budget FastFire 4.
