Buyer’s Guide: How To Choose The Best Girsan Pistols In 2026

Girsan’s names get confusing fast. Here is how the line breaks down.

Witness2311 Or MC1911

Witness2311 models are double-stack 1911s, often called budget 2011s, with 15 to 20-round magazines. MC1911 models are classic single-stack 1911s. If you want capacity, go Witness2311. If you want a traditional 1911 feel, go MC1911 and see our best budget 1911s and best classic 1911 pistols guides.

Size

Girsan sells the Witness2311 in compact and full-size lengths. The CMX XXX and BRAT use 3.4 inch barrels for carry. The CMXX has a 4.25 inch slide with an integral comp. The Match X and Hunter 10 are full-size range and field guns. Weight follows size: the BRAT weighed 22.4 ounces, while the Hunter 10 and Liberador weighed about 40 ounces.

Caliber

Most picks here are 9mm. The Hunter 10 and Witness2311 C are 10mm, and the Liberador we tested was .45 Auto (9mm and .38 Super are offered). The MC14T is .380 ACP. For woods carry, see our best 10mm pistols guide.

Triggers Vary A Lot

Girsan triggers range from excellent to heavy. Our BRAT broke at 2 pounds 8 ounces and the Hunter 10 at 2 pounds 12 ounces. The Match X measured about 4.5 pounds. The CMXX came in just over 7 pounds and improved to 5.1 after a range session, and our Witness2311 C measured 7 pounds after 500 rounds. Budget for a trigger job if you buy an older model.

Break-In And Magazines

Several reviewers saw early hiccups that went away. The Liberador had two failures to eject in the first two magazines and then ran. Our CMXX ran perfectly on factory ammo but did not like soft reloads. Use quality factory ammo for the first few hundred rounds.

Price

Girsan is about value. In our reviews, the MC14T sold for around $400 and the BRAT listed at $789. The CMX XXX listed at $899, the Witness2311 C at $1,028, and the Match X at $1,179 with street prices near $1,000. All prices are as of each review. If you want to compare with premium 2011s, see our best 2011 pistols guide.

Best Girsan Pistols Ranked: 2026 Product Roundup

Girsan Witness2311 CMX XXX: Best Overall Girsan Pistol (2026)

The Girsan Witness2311 CMX XXX is the best overall Girsan pistol because it ran more than 400 rounds with zero malfunctions and holds 16+1 rounds of 9mm in a compact frame. Girsan and Check-Mate built a new slim 16-round magazine for it, so you get double-stack capacity without the bulk of a traditional 2011 grip. MSRP was $899 at the time of review.

Read our full Girsan Witness2311 CMX XXX review here.

Our reviewer ran 115, 124, and 147 grain ammo with two shooters and had no stoppages. The 3.4 inch bull barrel stacked cheap Winchester practice ammo into tight groups when he zeroed the optic, and he made hits at roughly 50 yards that he said felt too easy for a little carry gun.

Key Specs

- Caliber: 9mm

- Capacity: 16+1 (slim Check-Mate magazine)

- Barrel: 3.4 in bull

- Reliability: 400+ rounds, zero malfunctions

- MSRP: $899 at the time of review

Pros

- Zero malfunctions in testing

- Slim grip, high capacity

- Accurate short barrel

Cons

- New model, limited holster selection

- Magazines are model specific

Girsan Witness2311 Match X: Best Girsan For Competition (2026)

The Girsan Witness2311 Match X is the best Girsan for competition because our reviewer unboxed it, added a red dot, and shot it in multiple USPSA matches. It has a big barrel port that fights muzzle rise, a tuned trigger that measured almost exactly 4.5 pounds, and 17+1 or 20+1 capacity. MSRP was $1,179, with street prices around $1,000 at the time of review.

Read our full Girsan Witness2311 Match X review here.

He tested ten loads. Federal American Eagle 115 grain FMJ grouped 1.30 inches and Blazer 115 grain 1.54 inches.

Girsan Witness2311 BRAT OR: Best Girsan Carry Value (2026)

The Girsan Witness2311 BRAT optics-ready model is the best Girsan carry value because it packs 17+1 rounds of 9mm and a crisp 1911 trigger into a 22.4 ounce gun with an MSRP of $789 at the time of review. It has a 3.4 inch bull barrel, an aluminum frame, and an RMS optic cut. It is also offered in .45 ACP with 11+1.

Read our full Girsan Witness2311 BRAT OR review here.

Our reviewer measured the skeletonized trigger at 2 pounds 8 ounces on average and ran it with a Shield RMSsc. He said it gave a 1911 fan the trigger he loves with the capacity of a striker gun. Read more cross-brand picks in our best Staccato alternatives guide.

Key Specs

- Caliber: 9mm (as tested), also .45 ACP

Pros

- Light aluminum frame

- Excellent trigger

- Optics ready

Cons

- Light gun means more snap

EAA Witness2311 CMXX: Best Compensated Girsan Compact (2026)

The EAA Witness2311 CMXX is the best compensated Girsan compact because it machines a comp into a commander-length 4.25 inch barrel, so the rifled portion is closer to 3.75 inches. It comes in 9mm, .45, and 10mm and uses standard 17-round magazines with witness holes. MSRP was $1,149 with street prices about $100 less at the time of review.

Read our full EAA Witness2311 CMXX review here.

Our reviewer and other experienced shooters had it run perfectly on factory ammo, but soft reloads gave it trouble. The trigger started just over 7 pounds and improved to a 5.1 pound average after one range session. He warned that adjusting overtravel all the way out can cause light strikes because of the firing pin block.

Key Specs

- Caliber: 9mm, .45 or 10mm

- Capacity: 17 rounds (9mm)

Girsan Witness2311 Hunter 10: Best Girsan For Hunting (2026)

The Girsan Witness2311 Hunter 10 is the best Girsan for hunting because it carries 15+1 rounds of 10mm in a 40 ounce double stack built for the field. Our reviewer called it a backcountry bear gun and a formidable home defense choice, though too big for his concealed carry.

Read our full Girsan Hunter 10 review here.

The skeletonized trigger broke very cleanly at 2 pounds 12 ounces. His best group was 1.3 inches, and he shot a four-shot 1.2 inch group with Barnes VOR-TX. The open-sight version listed at $1,028 and the optics-ready model at $1,184, with street prices about $150 less at the time of review. For woods guns, see our bear country sidearms guide.

Key Specs

- Caliber: 10mm

He wanted a 2011 he would trust for grizzly protection, and it delivered.

The trigger measured 7 pounds after about 500 rounds and plenty of dry fire. He had to re-torque grip bolts during testing, so check them with thread locker.

The EAA MC1911 Liberador is the best Girsan single-stack 1911 because it looks like a custom gun for a little under $800 at the time of review. Our reviewer chose .45 Auto, though 9mm and .38 Super are offered. The polished stainless frame and slide look nickel plated, and it weighs over 40 ounces with an accessory rail.

Read our full EAA MC1911 Liberador review here.

The best 5-shot group at 25 yards was 1.34 inches with Blazer 230 grain. He had two failures to eject in the first two magazines, and they went away with more ball ammo. The 6.5 pound trigger needs at least three pounds taken off, and it ships with one eight-round magazine. See our best budget 1911s guide for rivals.

Key Specs

- Caliber: .45 Auto (as tested), also 9mm and .38 Super

Girsan MC14T: Best Budget Girsan .380 (2026)

The Girsan MC14T is the best budget Girsan .380 because it sold for around $400 at the time of review and proved exceptionally reliable. It is a straight blowback DA/SA pistol with a 13-round magazine, a 4.5 inch barrel, and a tip-up barrel, based on the Beretta Cheetah.

Read our full Girsan MC14T vs Beretta 80X review here.

Our reviewer had zero failures and was surprised how well it rang steel at 50 yards. The tradeoff is the tip-up design: with no extractor, a malfunction turns into a double feed if you try tap-rack-bang. He picked the Beretta 80X as the better gun, but the MC14T costs much less. See our best .380 ACP pistols guide.

Key Specs

- Caliber: .380 ACP

- Capacity: 13 rounds

- Barrel: 4.5 in, tip-up

- Action: DA/SA blowback

- Price: around $400 at the time of review

Pros

- Low price

- Zero failures in testing

- Tip-up barrel for easy loading

Cons

- Malfunctions are slow to clear

- Beretta 80X is more refined

The skeletonized trigger broke very cleanly at 2 pounds 12 ounces. His best group was 1.3 inches, and he shot a four-shot 1.2 inch group with Barnes VOR-TX.

The best 5-shot group at 25 yards was 1.34 inches with Blazer 230 grain. He had two failures to eject in the first two magazines, and they went away with more ball ammo.
