With a fixed 225-dot matrix, enclosed housing and zero-distortion optical system, this solid-state optic may be SIG&#8217;s most interesting pistol red dot yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SIG Sauer XRAY5 may be the most significant pistol red dot SIG has released yet. Instead of refining the same mechanical system every other pistol optic uses, SIG eliminated the moving zero mechanism entirely. The XRAY5 uses a fixed 225-dot digital matrix, a zero-distortion optical system, a titanium-protected enclosed housing and technology derived from the much larger XRAY7 combat optic GunsAmerica covered earlier this year. Screws, springs and a moving carrier physically change where the dot appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The XRAY5 gets rid of that system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inside is a fixed 15&#215;15 matrix containing 225 illuminated dots. When you adjust zero, nothing physically moves. The optic simply illuminates a different point in the matrix. SIG calls it Digital Zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That matters because a pistol optic lives on a reciprocating slide. Every shot subjects the optic to violent acceleration and deceleration. Removing the components that normally move, wear or shift under recoil eliminates an entire category of potential failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SIG says it has tested the XRAY5 through more than 100,000 consecutive live-fire rounds without failure or loss of zero. It has also been repeatedly dropped eight feet directly onto concrete without failure or loss of zero and pressure-tested underwater to 132 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until we independently torture-test one, I am not going to declare it indestructible. But on paper, the XRAY5 has a legitimate argument for being one of the strongest pistol red dots ever built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-from-belt-fed-xray7-tech-to-a-pistol-sized-xray5\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Belt-Fed XRAY7 Tech to a Pistol-Sized XRAY5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This technology did not start as a concealed-carry optic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At SHOT Show 2026, GunsAmerica covered SIG\u2019s XRAY7-CO, a much larger advanced combat optic developed around the demands of belt-fed machine guns. The XRAY7 also eliminates conventional mechanical zeroing and uses a digital display capable of moving the aiming point and displaying ballistic information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SIG designed that optic to survive heavy machine-gun recoil and sustained fire while communicating with weapon-mounted laser rangefinders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The XRAY5 takes that basic solid-state philosophy and shrinks it down onto a pistol slide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is what makes this interesting. This is not simply another enclosed pistol dot with a tougher housing. SIG took technology developed around an advanced military combat optic and scaled it down into something small enough for concealed-carry pistols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-four-sig-xray5-footprints-cover-modern-carry-pistols\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Four SIG XRAY5 Footprints Cover Modern Carry Pistols<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SIG is launching the XRAY5 in four configurations, which should cover most of the important modern pistol mounting systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>XRAY5 PRO:<\/strong> Standard <strong>Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, or DPP, footprint<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>XRAY5 COMPACT:<\/strong> Standard <strong>Shield RMSc footprint<\/strong>, making it suitable for many slimline and micro-compact pistols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>XRAY5 SIG-LOC PRO:<\/strong> SIG\u2019s underside-mounted <strong>SIG-LOC PRO footprint<\/strong>, used on newer SIG pistols including compatible P211, P385, P320 and P226-X models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>XRAY5 SIG-LOC COMPACT:<\/strong> The smaller <strong>SIG-LOC COMPACT footprint<\/strong>, designed around compatible P365 models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SIG lists all four as enclosed optics. The PRO and COMPACT versions use conventional top-mounted screws, while the SIG-LOC models secure from underneath the slide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-xray5-zero-distortion-glass-changes-the-sight-picture\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">XRAY5 Zero-Distortion Glass Changes the Sight Picture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The optical system is just as unusual as the electronic zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of looking through a conventional curved collimating lens, the shooter looks through flat glass. The emitter projects upward into an aspheric lens mounted in the roof of the optic, which reflects the image down onto the front window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SIG calls this the Zero Distortion Optical System, or ZDO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result is an unusually flat, distortion-free sight picture. During SIG NEXT, we compared it side-by-side with conventional pistol dots, and the difference in edge distortion and rolling effect was obvious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The housing itself is 7075 aluminum with a Grade 5 titanium top cover protecting the optical assembly. It is fully enclosed, argon-purged and IPX8-rated to 40 meters, or 132 feet. Battery life is rated up to 10,000 hours from a side-loading CR2032, with MOTAC motion activation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-bluetooth-is-optional-on-the-sig-xray5-so-relax\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bluetooth Is Optional on the SIG XRAY5, So Relax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bluetooth is going to make some people lose their minds, so let\u2019s clear this up immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You do not need Bluetooth to use the XRAY5.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can turn Bluetooth off completely. You can power the optic on and off, adjust brightness, zero windage and elevation, and use the lockout mode directly from the buttons on the optic. SIG specifically confirms Bluetooth can be disabled from either the optic itself or the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So take off the foil hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are reading this article on a smartphone or computer, Google, Apple, your carrier and a collection of apps already know considerably more about you than your pistol optic ever will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bluetooth simply unlocks the convenient features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the app, you can create and name multiple zero profiles for different ammunition, suppressors or loads. The optic also includes an accelerometer-based round counter that can be calibrated to the recoil signature of a specific firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don&#8217;t want any of that? Turn Bluetooth off and use it like a normal red dot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-xray5-lightfight-automatically-fights-reticle-washout\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">XRAY5 LightFight Automatically Fights Reticle Washout<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The XRAY5 can also communicate with SIG\u2019s compatible FOXTROT LightFight weapon lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the light activates, the optic can automatically increase reticle brightness to prevent the dot from washing out against a brightly illuminated target. Users can configure how much the brightness changes through the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Again, completely optional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The important part of the XRAY5 is not Bluetooth. It is the underlying solid-state architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-sig-xray5-durability-claims-put-the-solid-state-design-to-work\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">SIG XRAY5 Durability Claims Put the Solid-State Design to Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have not independently subjected one to 100,000 rounds, eight-foot concrete drops or 132 feet of water.
