It also covers ammunition, bows, crossbows and qualifying archery accessories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state\u2019s list of tax-free firearm accessories is surprisingly broad. They were not included in Florida\u2019s 2025 holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tax break also covers arrows, bolts, quarrels, quivers, releases, sights, optics and wrist guards used with bows and crossbows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Camping and fishing gear qualifies, but shoppers need to watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/marlin-150-years-limited-edition-long-guns-shot-show-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-gun-tax-holiday-2026\" title=\"Florida\u2019s Four-Month Gun Tax Holiday Is Back, but Critics Aren\u2019t Sold\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"7646\">price limits<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/floridarevenue.com\/HuntFishCamp\/Documents\/2026\/2026%20Hunting%20Fishing%20and%20Camping%20Sales%20Tax%20Holiday%20-%20External%20FAQs%20-%20Consumers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-gun-tax-holiday-2026\" title=\"Florida\u2019s Four-Month Gun Tax Holiday Is Back, but Critics Aren\u2019t Sold\">consumer guide<\/a> lists the following caps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bait and fishing tackle costing $10 or less individually, or $20 or less when sold as a set<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flashlights, lanterns, tackle boxes and tackle bags costing $30 or less<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Camping stoves, folding chairs, portable hammocks and <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/born-outdoor-bedroll-shot-show-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-gun-tax-holiday-2026\" title=\"Florida\u2019s Four-Month Gun Tax Holiday Is Back, but Critics Aren\u2019t Sold\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"7643\">sleeping bags<\/a> costing $50 or less<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fishing rods and reels costing $75 or less individually, or $150 or less as a set<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tents costing $200 or less<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible online purchases also qualify when the seller accepts the order during the holiday for immediate shipment. The item may arrive after December 31 and still qualify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Layaway purchases can also qualify if the item is placed on layaway during the tax holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exemption does not apply to rentals or repairs. Purchases made for commercial use are also excluded. Shoppers will still pay tax on purchases made inside airports, theme parks, entertainment complexes and public lodging establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-critics-are-saying\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Critics Are Saying<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Supporters describe the holiday as a simple way to let Floridians keep more of their money while encouraging hunting, fishing and camping. With firearms and accessories carrying no price ceiling, buyers can potentially save a noticeable amount on more expensive purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Critics do not necessarily disagree that shoppers will save money. That figure represents tax revenue Florida expects to leave with consumers. Supporters call that money returned to taxpayers. Critics argue that broader tax changes could distribute relief more evenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both points can be true.
