Silencer Central has named U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota its \u201cU.S. Senator of the Year\u201d for his work supporting hunters, sportsmen and lawful gun owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Company founder and CEO Brandon Maddox<\/a> presented the award during an Aug. 17 ceremony at Silencer Central\u2019s headquarters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company credited Rounds with consistently supporting Second Amendment<\/a> rights. And backing legislation aimed at reducing unnecessary red tape for gun owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rounds sponsored the Modernizing Law Enforcement Notification Act, or MLENA<\/a>. The legislation sought to update the notification process for certain firearm transfers by allowing required notices to chief law enforcement officers to be delivered electronically instead of through the mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Silencer Central said the change would improve efficiency while keeping the process compliant with federal law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rounds has also served as a lead sponsor of the Hearing Protection Act<\/a>. That legislation seeks to make suppressors more accessible by removing them from the National Firearms Act<\/a> and treating them more like traditional firearms under federal law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSenator Rounds has always been willing to listen, engage and work toward practical solutions that matter to South Dakotans and the firearm<\/a> community,\u201d Maddox said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis leadership on issues like the Modernizing Law Enforcement Notification Act and his support of the Hearing Protection<\/a> Act demonstrate a commitment to responsible firearm ownership and common-sense reforms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maddox added that Silencer Central was proud to recognize Rounds and thanked him for his service to South Dakota and the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
