GOA members Brandon Herrera and Texas State Rep. Gun Owners of America strongly backed that effort, working alongside Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) to strip away the tax that had been the constitutional foundation for much of the NFA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But while the tax disappeared, the registration requirement remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"suppressor-transfers-without-nfa-registration\" title=\"Suppressor Transfers Without NFA Registration!\">GOA<\/a> immediately filed what it called its &#8220;One Big Beautiful Lawsuit,&#8221; arguing that without the tax, Congress no longer had constitutional authority to require federal registration of these firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, a federal judge agreed.  At least for the plaintiffs in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-atf-didn-t-object\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ATF Didn&#8217;t Object<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Thanks to GOA the NFA is DONE\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8QPhKK4tpXA?start=120&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before completing the transfers, GOA, Silencer Shop, Herrera, and Virdell formally notified both the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that they intended to transfer suppressors without NFA registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to GOA, the ATF did not object.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That cleared the way for the transfers to occur just after 12:01 a.m. Central Time on August 13, while still complying with every other applicable federal and state law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-goa-the-era-of-federal-registration-must-end\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">GOA: &#8220;The Era of Federal Registration Must End&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GOA Senior Vice President Erich Pratt called the moment the next step in dismantling what the organization considers unconstitutional restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;GOA fought to crush the NFA&#8217;s unconstitutional restrictions through the One Big Beautiful Bill, but we didn&#8217;t stop there. We promised to keep fighting until these restrictions were gone, and now our members are putting the historic victory into action.
