People ran for cover. Others dropped to the ground. But at least two men moved toward the gunfire instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/story\/idaho-shooting-good-samaritan-confronted-gunman-speaks\/19623474\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"idaho-armed-citizen-mass-shooter\" title=\"Armed Citizen Takes On Idaho Mass Shooter, Saves Lives\">ABC News<\/a><\/em>, 35-year-old Jordan Salinas and an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper confronted the rifle-armed gunman, forcing him to stop shooting at passing vehicles and retreat until responding officers arrived. <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/precision-airgun-huntin\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"idaho-armed-citizen-mass-shooter\" title=\"Armed Citizen Takes On Idaho Mass Shooter, Saves Lives\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"7374\">Authorities now believe those actions<\/a> likely saved lives. The gunman was identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams.  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attack left three people dead and seven others wounded outside the crowded restaurant, which had opened only a week earlier. Like many <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/woman-posts-sign-concealed-carrier-warn-neighborhood\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"idaho-armed-citizen-mass-shooter\" title=\"Armed Citizen Takes On Idaho Mass Shooter, Saves Lives\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"7375\">concealed carriers<\/a>, he hoped those skills would never be needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just as important, Salinas told <em>ABC News<\/em> that he wasn&#8217;t the only hero that day.
