I\u2019ve got to be honest. I had mixed emotions when the U.S. Supreme Court announced it was going to hear arguments challenging bans on the sale of Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, I was downright giddy. Then, with a sigh, I thought, \u201cIt\u2019s about time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, NSSF used the word \u201celated\u201d in our statement<\/strong><\/a> upon hearing that Viramontes v. Cook County<\/em> and Grant v. Higgins<\/em> will be heard by the Supreme Court in the next session. These petitions were relisted several times before the Supreme Court ultimately decided to grant cert. Viramontes<\/em> and Grant<\/em> challenge Cook County, Illinois and Connecticut\u2019s respective bans on MSR possession, the most-commonly sold centerfire rifle in America, of which there are over 32 million in circulation<\/strong><\/a>. Heller<\/em> and Bruen<\/em> clearly hold that firearms in common use are protected by the Second Amendment and cannot be banned unless the government can prove the ban fits with our nation\u2019s history and tradition of firearm regulation \u2014<\/strong> which they plainly cannot do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
