{"id":24677,"date":"2014-09-10T14:09:07","date_gmt":"2014-09-10T18:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=24677"},"modified":"2014-09-10T14:09:07","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T01:34:21","slug":"chicago-police-official-put-gun-mouth-pointed-taser-groin-says-victim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/chicago-police-official-put-gun-mouth-pointed-taser-groin-says-victim\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicago police official put gun in mouth, pointed taser at groin, says victim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/video.chicago.cbslocal.com\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"chicago-police-official-put-gun-mouth-pointed-taser-groin-says-victim\" title=\"Chicago police official put gun in mouth, pointed taser at groin, says victim\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, a Chicago man filed a federal lawsuit against Police Commander Glenn Evans, claiming that the police official stuck a gun in his mouth and pointed a taser at his groin, <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/news\/chicago-police-commander-glenn-evans-sued-by-alleged-victim-\/301604\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"chicago-police-official-put-gun-mouth-pointed-taser-groin-says-victim\" title=\"Chicago police official put gun in mouth, pointed taser at groin, says victim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports local media<\/a>.   <\/p>\n<p>The alleged victim, 24-year-old Ricky Williams, said the incident occurred nearly a year and a half ago after police chased him into an abandon residence on Jan. 30, 2013.  They found no firearm on Williams but arrested him anyhow.  The charges against Williams were later dropped.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo words could ever describe how afraid I was when the gun was pushed in my mouth when I knew I didn\u2019t do anything wrong,\u201d said Williams in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope this lawsuit stops other police officers from doing what happened to me ever again,&#8221; he continued.  &#8220;It took a lot of courage for me to do this, and I hope the Chicago Police Department shows its courage and changes the way it treats innocent people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williams is seeking at least 100,000 in damages.  <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the civil lawsuit, Cook County prosecutors are charging Evans with battery and official misconduct after finding Williams&#8217; DNA on Evan&#8217;s gun.  <\/p>\n<p>Williams&#8217; attorney, Antonio Romanucci, said that the treatment of his client was tantamount to torture.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can certainly call it a torture, when there\u2019s a Taser placed between your groin and a gun shoved down into your mouth and touches the back of your throat,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, it appeared as though Evans was only going to get a slap on the wrist from Police Supt.
