Good call.  Because what showed up wasn\u2019t a turkey.  It was a bobcat, locked in and watching him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI guess I didn\u2019t realize how laser-focused it was,\u201d Bender said. \u201cAnd then it grabbed onto my arm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video (now racking up millions of views) shows just how fast things escalated. One second it\u2019s curiosity. The next, contact.  Wildlife experts say encounters like this are extremely rare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-veteran-hunter-killed-by-elephant-herd\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-hunter-killed-elephant\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-bobcat-attack-turkey-hunter-video\" title=\"VIDEO: Turkey Hunter Stalked, Attacked by Bobcat\">Veteran Hunter Killed by Elephant Herd<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison wildlife professor David Drake called it \u201cnot a normal, common encounter,\u201d especially one caught on video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bobcats aren\u2019t typically aggressive toward humans. They\u2019re known as shy, elusive predators. But that doesn\u2019t mean harmless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey probably wouldn\u2019t kill you,\u201d Drake said, \u201cbut they can tear you up.\u201d  In this case, Bender got lucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He walked away with minor injuries, just scratches on his shoulder, and later got checked out and prescribed antibiotics.  And if you\u2019re wondering\u2026 Yeah, he went back out.  A few days later, he tagged a turkey.  That part says a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because hunters understand something most people don\u2019t.  When you step into the woods, you\u2019re not always at the top of the food chain.  Most of the time, nothing happens.
