Brown Convention Center in Houston, EAA unveiled two new additions to its lineup: the EAA Witness2311 XXX series, a pair of sub-compact pistols that aim to shrink the footprint of a <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/witness-2311-brat-optics-ready-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"eaa-witness2311-xxx-nra-2026\" title=\"EAA Drops Slim 16-Round Witness2311 XXX Pistols -- NRA 2026\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4294\">double-stack 1911<\/a> without giving up capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And right away, one thing stands out. It\u2019s how they got there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EAA teamed up with Check-Mate Magazines to develop a slimmer 16-round magazine that sits flush in the grip. Compared side-by-side with a traditional 2011-style pistol, the difference is noticeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Less bulk. Less grip circumference.  Still 16 rounds of 9mm.  That\u2019s a combination you don\u2019t see very often in this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Handling it on the show floor, the gun feels closer to a single-stack in the hand than a traditional double-stack, which is going to matter for anyone actually trying to carry this thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-two-models-two-approaches\">Two Models, Two Approaches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>EAA is rolling out the EAA Witness2311 XXX in two flavors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>CMX XXX<\/strong> \u2013 Two-tone finish, tuned trigger, lightening-cut slide, optics-ready, no grip safety (uses <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/diy-slick-ruger-single-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"eaa-witness2311-xxx-nra-2026\" title=\"EAA Drops Slim 16-Round Witness2311 XXX Pistols -- NRA 2026\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4295\">firing pin<\/a> block)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SC 9 XXX<\/strong> \u2013 Black Cerakote, traditional grip safety, no optics cut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Both versions run:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>16-round capacity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3.4-inch bull barrel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ambidextrous safeties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check-Mate magazines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The CMX version leans more modern, ditching the grip safety in favor of a firing pin block system (think Series 80-style) while still delivering a surprisingly solid trigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SC model keeps things more traditional and comes in at a lower price point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-price-is-going-to-turn-heads\">Price Is Going to Turn Heads<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s where things get interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EAA says the SC 9 XXX will land under $600, while the more feature-rich CMX XXX is expected to come in under $900.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a double-stack 1911-style pistol\u2014especially one that\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/smith-shield-ez-optics\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"eaa-witness2311-xxx-nra-2026\" title=\"EAA Drops Slim 16-Round Witness2311 XXX Pistols -- NRA 2026\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4297\">optics-ready and tuned\u2014that\u2019s aggressive pricing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if those numbers hold, it\u2019s going to put pressure on a lot of other guns in this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-built-for-carry\">Built for Carry?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>EAA is clearly positioning the EAA Witness2311 XXX as a concealed carry option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Slimmer grip<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Short barrel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full-length dust cover with accessory rail<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optics-ready capability (CMX model)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On paper, it checks a lot of boxes. Smaller footprint. It\u2019s trying to fix one of its biggest complaints.  Size.  If this slimmer magazine design holds up, it might not just be another 2311.
