And honestly, it\u2019s not hard to see why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wittman Delivers Remarks in Support of Protecting Access for Hunters &amp; Anglers Act\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TULcfL42wDE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the center of the bill is a pretty straightforward idea: before the government <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/federal-agency-withhold-data-get-lead-ammo-ban-passed-california\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-house-passes-bill-protecting-lead-ammo\" title=\"House Passes Bill Protecting Lead Ammo\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4060\">bans lead ammo<\/a> or fishing tackle, it has to prove (using site-specific, peer-reviewed science) that it\u2019s actually harming wildlife populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No assumptions. No blanket bans.  Just evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That matters, because over the past few years there\u2019s been a steady <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-biden-admin-wants-ignore-science-push-traditional-ammo-bans\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-house-passes-bill-protecting-lead-ammo\" title=\"House Passes Bill Protecting Lead Ammo\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4061\">push to phase out traditional ammo<\/a>, especially on federal lands. The concern from hunters has been twofold: cost and access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Non-lead ammo isn\u2019t just harder to find.  It\u2019s more expensive, often around 25% higher.  And when costs go up, participation tends to go down.  That\u2019s where this gets bigger than just ammo choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because hunters and shooters don\u2019t just fund their own activities, they fund conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-charles-daly-honcho-review-cheap-thrill-or-trap\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/charles-daly-honcho-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-house-passes-bill-protecting-lead-ammo\" title=\"House Passes Bill Protecting Lead Ammo\">Charles Daly Honcho Review: Cheap Thrill or Trap?<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the Pittman-Robertson Act, <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-hog-hunting-40\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-house-passes-bill-protecting-lead-ammo\" title=\"House Passes Bill Protecting Lead Ammo\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4057\">firearm and ammo manufacturers pay an excise tax that goes<\/a> straight into wildlife conservation. We\u2019re talking over $31 billion (adjusted for inflation) since 1937.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026 alone?  Roughly $804 million came directly from the firearms and ammo industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So when participation drops, funding drops with it.  That\u2019s the concern this bill is trying to address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF\u2019s Lawrence G. Keane put it plainly: restricting traditional ammo without solid science risks <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/crosman-p1-r1-review-shot-show-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-house-passes-bill-protecting-lead-ammo\" title=\"House Passes Bill Protecting Lead Ammo\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4059\">pricing people out of the outdoors<\/a> and cutting off the primary funding stream for conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill now heads to the Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it clears that hurdle, it could lock in access for hunters and anglers while keeping one of the most successful conservation funding models in the country intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now, though, it\u2019s a step in the right direction and one a lot of folks in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-fastest-compact-crossbow-in-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-house-passes-bill-protecting-lead-ammo\" title=\"House Passes Bill Protecting Lead Ammo\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4058\">hunting world<\/a> will be watching closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
