According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thv11.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"aaron-spencer-wins-sheriff-primary\" title=\"Father Who Shot Daughter\u2019s Alleged Attacker Wins Sheriff Primary\">THV11<\/a><\/em>, the suspect had been released on bond and allegedly captured Spencer\u2019s daughter again before Spencer chased him down and shot him. The case is still pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now he\u2019s one election away from becoming sheriff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turnout was high. Emotions were higher. If he wins in November, takes office, and is later convicted, he would be removed and the Quorum Court would appoint someone to finish the term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s where it gets murky: what if he\u2019s convicted between now and November?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State rules clearly allow parties to replace a nominee if they withdraw or <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/armscor-president-ceo-martin-tuason-passes-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"aaron-spencer-wins-sheriff-primary\" title=\"Father Who Shot Daughter\u2019s Alleged Attacker Wins Sheriff Primary\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3841\">pass away<\/a>. They don\u2019t clearly address <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/open-carry-advocates-convicted-of-felony-for-improper-storage-of-a-firearm\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"aaron-spencer-wins-sheriff-primary\" title=\"Father Who Shot Daughter\u2019s Alleged Attacker Wins Sheriff Primary\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3845\">felony convictions<\/a> before a general election. That means Lonoke County could be staring at some serious legal gray area if that scenario plays out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now, local Republican leadership says Spencer is the nominee, period. No plans to swap him out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If he\u2019s acquitted, he can take office like anyone else.
