Lucy had been visiting from the UK and was preparing to fly home that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two had argued about guns and politics, reportedly including President Trump. Harrison later told police he was showing Lucy his Glock 9mm after watching a news segment on gun violence. He claimed the gun \u201cjust went off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He admitted he had been drinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Texas grand jury ruled the shooting accidental and declined to bring charges. The coroner described Harrison as \u201creckless\u201d and said even if he didn\u2019t intend to fire, he was handling a loaded gun during an emotionally charged exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s be clear: this is not a Second Amendment issue. This is a gun-handling issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You do not \u201ctease\u201d someone with a loaded firearm.<br \/>You do not handle a chambered weapon while drinking.<br \/>And, you do not point a gun at someone unless you intend to destroy what\u2019s in front of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every gun owner knows the rules. Or should.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the firearms community, stories like this are a gut punch. Not because of politics.  But because negligent handling fuels every anti-gun talking point in existence. One careless act becomes ammunition for those who want broader restrictions on everyone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Texas law may have called it an accident.
