The AAC Frog Kit is FirstSpear\u2019s maritime configuration of the Assaulter Armor Carrier, engineered for teams that move between boats, water, and land with armor on. It integrates buoyancy into the carrier architecture and supports subsurface infiltration when paired with a rebreather harness.<\/p>\n\n\n

Who is FirstSpear?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You’re not alone if you haven’t heard of FirstSpear, because their biggest clients are military and law enforcement agencies around the world. If you’ve been a soldier wearing body armor<\/a> in the last decade or two, though, you’ve definitely used their products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They both make apparel solutions for the military, as well as invent products licensed by other manufacturers. Their Tubes, used to secure body armor<\/a> to a soldier’s torso, are ubiquitous in body armor.<\/p>\n\n\n

What’s a \u201cFROG\u201d? <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Instead of adding bulky external float gear, the Frog Kit uses a flotation cummerbund and buoyancy compensators (BCs) positioned inside the carrier to provide controlled lift at the surface while preserving mobility in the water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on setup and size, total surface flotation can reach approximately 73 pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n

BCs are orally inflated, user\u2011configurable for left\u2011 or right\u2011hand control, and can be set for single or dual inflation. This lets divers fine\u2011tune trim, offset load, and regain positive buoyancy topside without separate flotation rigs.<\/p>\n\n\n

Carrier Architecture and Modularity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The kit includes the AAC Instant\u2011Adjust Back Panel and Adaptive Cummerbunds, allowing rapid resizing when transitioning from bulky dry suits to standard uniforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FirstSpear Tubes enable fast donning, doffing, and emergency release, while 6\/12 laser\u2011cut panels (another ubiquitous proprietary product) support modular pocket mounting across the front, back, and cummerbund.<\/p>\n\n\n

The system supports swimmer\u2011cut SAPI plates and is compatible with an optional rebreather harness. Soft armor and mission\u2011specific hard<\/a> armor configurations are available through government procurement channels. It’s a pretty cool solution for those who need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Can Buy It<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The AAC Frog Kit is a government and law\u2011enforcement\u2011only system. It is used by units operating in maritime and amphibious roles and is not sold for individual commercial purchase. But I still like knowing a little about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
