It&#8217;s even worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Washington lawmakers propose bill to curb 3D-printed &#039;ghost guns&#039;\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JFCzD1SyPz4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supporters of HB 2320 insist they\u2019re just \u201cclosing loopholes.\u201d The problem is those loopholes don\u2019t really exist. Manufacturing &#8220;untraceable <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/washington-senator-pass-firearms-test-first\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3091\">firearms&#8221; is already illegal under Washington law<\/a>, a fact even local media reporting acknowledged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As <em>KOMO News<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/local\/washington-lawmakers-3d-ghost-guns-olympia-federal-prosecutors-printer-manufacturing-operations-chinatown-international-district-cid-cnc\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\">reported<\/a>, lawmakers argue the bill is needed because criminals are increasingly using modern tools like 3D printers and milling machines to skirt the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-totally-revamped-savage-model-110-lineup-shot-show-2026\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/savage-m110-shot-show-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\">Totally Revamped! It attempts to criminalize possession of digital design files and code, essentially information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not just a <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/mark-cuban-update-second-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3089\">Second Amendment<\/a> issue; it drags the First Amendment into the blast radius and raises serious Fifth Amendment due-process concerns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re no longer being punished for making something illegal. You\u2019re being punished for <em>knowing how<\/em> something could be made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20260121\/washington-3-d-printing-ban-on-the-move\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\">NRA-ILA<\/a>,<\/em> the bill\u2019s title is wildly misleading. It\u2019s not limited to <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/everytowns-3d-panic-gun-control-meets-printing-press\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3088\">3D printing<\/a> at all. That\u2019s not <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/the-mil-leo-only-guns-from-your-favorite-companies\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3087\">law enforcement<\/a>, that\u2019s internet policing. And it sets a precedent where state officials get to decide what information you\u2019re allowed to access or store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, actual criminals (the ones using <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ohio-rolls-out-stolen-gun-portal\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"washington-3d-gun-bill\" title=\"Washington\u2019s 3D Gun Bill Is a Solution Looking for a Problem\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3090\">stolen guns<\/a>, trafficked firearms, or already-illegal devices) will continue doing exactly what they\u2019ve always done. Ignore the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HB 2320 doesn\u2019t stop crime. It doesn\u2019t meaningfully target violent offenders. What it does do is expand government power, blur constitutional lines, and create new felonies out of thin air for people who weren\u2019t hurting anyone to begin with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not public safety.
