A Bolt Action That Feels Familiar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bushmaster designed the BA30 as a straight-pull bolt action<\/a>, but it doesn\u2019t behave like a traditional bolt gun. Instead of a rotating bolt handle, the BA30 uses a rearward pull with a spring-forward return. Pull it back, release, and the action drives itself forward to chamber the next round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The handle itself is narrow but extended enough to grab easily. It can also be swapped to the opposite side in the field with no tools. Ambidextrous use is clearly part of the design. As a right-handed shooter, running the handle on the left meant I could stay on the gun and cycle the action without breaking position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AR-10 Parts Compatibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the BA30\u2019s defining traits is its AR-10 compatibility. The rifle uses AR-10 fire control<\/a> components, and even the barrel can be sourced from standard AR-10 offerings. That opens the door for easier customization and parts availability compared to many proprietary bolt guns<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bushmaster manufactures the rifle in the USA, including its own lower receiver<\/a>. The lower features a flared magwell<\/a>, which helps with quicker, cleaner reloads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This setup makes the rifle easier to transport, especially for hunters or shooters who prioritize compact storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calibers, Suppressor, and Pricing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bushmaster plans to release the BA30 initially in 6.5 Creedmoor<\/a> and .308 Winchester. Other calibers remain unconfirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rifle is expected to ship in Q2 with an estimated MSRP between $1,800 and $2,000. Alongside it, Bushmaster plans to release a direct-thread suppressor priced around $800. The suppressor uses Inconel 625 and features a high-temperature coating designed to handle heat and reduce signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
