What You Need to Know"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is rolling out major updates to its eForms system, and if you\u2019re planning any NFA filings, the clock matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ATF <a href=\"https:\/\/eforms.atf.gov\/login;referrer=%2Fhome\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-eform-blackout-what-you-need-to-know\" title=\"ATF eForm Blackout! What You Need to Know\">says<\/a> the updates are designed to modernize eForms and reduce processing time for commonly used submissions, including Forms 1 and 4. What You Need to Know\" data-level=\"2\">FFL Note<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-dates-to-know\">Key Dates to Know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>December 26:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eForms system will go offline temporarily while ATF upgrades the platform to implement new tax rules tied to the <em>One Big Beautiful Bill Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No new eForm 1 or eForm 4 submissions will be accepted after this date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any Form 1 or Form 4 saved in DRAFT status will be permanently deleted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forms submitted and completed before December 26 will continue to be processed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>January 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Updated eForms go live with new forms and functionality, including the ability for additional types of transferors (not just traditional FFLs) to <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/atf-announces-imminent-launch-of-new-electronic-system-for-submitting-form-4s\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-eform-blackout-what-you-need-to-know\" title=\"ATF eForm Blackout! What You Need to Know\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2206\">submit Form 4 applications electronically<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-drafts-are-being-deleted\">Why Drafts Are Being Deleted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ATF says all draft Form 1 and Form 4 submissions must be wiped because the new system requires field and formatting changes to reflect statutory updates. Most notably, the bill reduced the making and transfer tax to $0 for certain <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/legally-buy-machine-guns-silencers-short-barrels-understand-the-nfa\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-eform-blackout-what-you-need-to-know\" title=\"ATF eForm Blackout! What You Need to Know\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2205\">NFA firearms<\/a>, and the forms themselves have to be rebuilt to accommodate that change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve started a Form 1 or Form 4 and haven\u2019t submitted it yet, finish it before December 26 or expect to start over in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-not-changing\">What\u2019s Not Changing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even with the tax reduction and system overhaul, several <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/oregon-passes-safe-storage-requirement-bans-guns-in-certain-public-places\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-eform-blackout-what-you-need-to-know\" title=\"ATF eForm Blackout! What You Need to Know\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2209\">requirements remain in place:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Photographs<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fingerprints<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CLEO notification<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Those will still be required when the new forms launch on January 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-expect-slower-logins\">Expect Slower Logins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ATF also warns users that their first login after the update may take up to 30 seconds as system enhancements finalize. That delay is expected and temporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new FAQ category labeled \u201c2026 updates\u201d has been added inside eForms to walk users through the upcoming changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-submission-validation-codes-explained\">Submission Validation Codes Explained<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some users may see a prompt for a Submission Validation Code. This isn\u2019t part of <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hawaii-senate-expands-gun-registration-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-eform-blackout-what-you-need-to-know\" title=\"ATF eForm Blackout! What You Need to Know\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2208\">registration and isn\u2019t required<\/a> for most filings. ATF says it\u2019s tied to CAPTCHA verification when the system has trouble confirming the user is human.  Usually due to missed prompts or slow responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ffl-note\">FFL Note<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ATF is also revoking Super User access tied to expired or inactive licenses. Current FFLs should not be affected, but anyone running into issues can contact <a>eforms.request@atf.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/think-tank-poll-finds-that-levi-strauss-anti-gun-corporate-activism-likely-hurts-bottom-line\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-eform-blackout-what-you-need-to-know\" title=\"ATF eForm Blackout! What You Need to Know\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2207\">Bottom line<\/a>: if you\u2019ve got an NFA submission in progress, don\u2019t wait.
