Kennedy, is campaigning to succeed retiring Rep. Jerrold Nadler in New York\u2019s 12th Congressional District. Along the way, he\u2019s decided to float a familiar gun-control talking point. Penalize states with \u201cweak <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ak-47-hog-blaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2196\">gun laws\u201d because firearms<\/a> from those states allegedly end up used in crimes in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"JFK\u2019s Family Speaks Out After Kennedy Center Renamed for Donald Trump\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SAD1gYrB2r4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/20\/us-news\/jfks-grandson-jack-schlossberg-wants-to-hit-some-states-for-guns-flowing-to-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\">New York Post<\/a><\/em>, Schlossberg argued that there is an \u201cillegal flow of guns\u201d from states with looser firearm laws and suggested those states should face penalties to help fund enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That idea didn\u2019t sit well with the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ccrkba-easier-to-get-a-gun-than-a-burger-your-fries-arent-cooked\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2195\">CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb<\/a> fired back that Schlossberg has the issue exactly backward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow about penalizing New York for all the criminals they release on cashless bail, who then commit crimes in other states?\u201d Gottlieb asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Gottlieb, New York doesn\u2019t suffer from a \u201cgun problem\u201d at all.  It has a criminal justice problem.  That is fueled by soft-on-crime policies that repeatedly turn violent offenders loose. He pointed to New York\u2019s bail reform laws, which have been widely criticized for allowing repeat offenders to cycle in and out of custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-cz-wins-major-military-contract\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/cz-wins-military-contract\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\">CZ Wins Major Military Contract<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, President Donald Trump underscored that concern by signing an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/08\/taking-steps-to-end-cashless-bail-to-protect-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\">executive order<\/a> directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to identify states and jurisdictions that eliminated cash bail for crimes posing clear public-safety threats, including violent offenses, burglary, looting, and vandalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gottlieb accused Schlossberg of pandering to far-left Democrats rather than addressing the real drivers of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile prosecutors and courts go light on repeat offenders,\u201d Gottlieb said. \u201cPoliticians in Albany and New York City go hard on law-abiding citizens for exercising their Second Amendment rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that New Yorkers increasingly turn to <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-savage-releases-another-sweet-gun-the-110-high-country-shot-show-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2197\">firearms for self-defense precisely<\/a> because the state has failed to control recidivist criminals.  People who, in his view, should already be behind bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gottlieb closed with a sharp historical jab, noting that Schlossberg\u2019s grandfather was an NRA member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPresident Kennedy is probably shaking his head,\u201d Gottlieb said.  \u201cWatching politicians blame <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/feds-targeted-lawful-gun-owners-in-sweeping-domestic-terror-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2199\">lawful gun owners<\/a> instead of fixing a criminal justice system that everyone knows is broken.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Schlossberg ramps up his campaign, CCRKBA\u2019s message is clear.  Blaming other <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/millions-more-lawful-gun-owners-antigun-state-govs-plug-crime-going-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccrkba-new-york-frees-criminals-then-blames-guns\" title=\"CCRKBA: New York Frees Criminals, Then Blames Guns\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2198\">states and lawful gun owners won\u2019t fix New York\u2019s crime<\/a> problem.
