Missouri<\/em>, leaving Missouri\u2019s Second Amendment Protection Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/363\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\">SAPA<\/a>) effectively dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And according to GOA\u2019s Ben from the <em>Minute Man Moment<\/em> (see video below), the blame sits squarely on the shoulders of Attorney General Pam Bondi\u2019s Department of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Missouri&#039;s 2A Protection Act Is Dead\u2014The DOJ Killed It.\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QTcmJpvKlQQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a law designed to protect Missouri gun owners from federal overreach, the ending couldn\u2019t be more ironic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOA notes that Bondi\u2019s DOJ attacked SAPA the same way the Biden administration did, even though <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/atf-begins-overhauls-directed-by-presidents-2a-executive-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1687\">President Trump had issued an executive order directing<\/a> agencies to protect Second Amendment rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of defending a state law aligned with that policy, DOJ lawyers moved to dismantle it and succeeded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAPA, passed in 2021, didn\u2019t nullify <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/huge-ruling-could-strike-down-a-major-federal-gun-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1688\">federal gun laws<\/a>. It simply barred <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/missouri-banning-federal-gun-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1686\">Missouri\u2019s officers from being conscripted into enforcing federal gun control<\/a> that went beyond constitutional limits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld this principle in cases involving firearms, immigration, environmental rules, and even marijuana enforcement: the federal government cannot force states or state police to carry out federal policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-gifts-that-shooters-actually-want-this-year\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/best-shooting-gift-guide-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\">Gifts That Shooters Actually Want This Year<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>But Bondi\u2019s DOJ argued otherwise, treating SAPA as if Missouri were declaring federal law void. GOA says that\u2019s not just legally wrong.  It\u2019s dangerous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Ben put it, the law \u201cdid not prevent federal agents from enforcing federal law. It simply stated that Missouri\u2019s officers would not be conscripted to help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With SAPA gone, <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/missouri-ag-sent-blistering-letter-to-fbi-after-agency-attempted-to-illegally-harvest-gun-owner-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1689\">Missouri gun owners<\/a> now face the possibility that their own state and local agencies could be pulled into federal prosecutions targeting otherwise law-abiding citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\">warns<\/a> that this collapses both Second Amendment protections and the Tenth Amendment safeguards that keep Washington, D.C. from forcing states to spend resources enforcing federal gun control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOA argues that this is more than a legal defeat.  It\u2019s a broken promise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The administration \u201cis saying one thing and doing another,\u201d Ben said, highlighting that DOJ kept advancing Biden-era arguments against state autonomy even while claiming to champion gun rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMissouri\u2019s law was a legitimate use of state authority,\u201d GOA emphasized. By attacking it, DOJ \u201cfailed\u201d the very constituency a pro\u20132A administration promised to defend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOA is urging gun owners to act, calling on supporters to contact the White House and demand that the Department of Justice stop <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/arizona-gun-owners-fighting-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"goa-missouris-2a-protection-act-is-dead-thanks-to-doj\" title=\"GOA: Missouri's 2A Protection Act is Dead Thanks to DOJ\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1690\">fighting gun owners<\/a> and work
