{"id":22602,"date":"2014-07-29T15:37:38","date_gmt":"2014-07-29T19:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=22602"},"modified":"2014-07-29T15:37:38","modified_gmt":"2023-08-17T20:16:22","slug":"breaking-judge-grants-90-day-stay-d-c-carry-ruling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/breaking-judge-grants-90-day-stay-d-c-carry-ruling\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Judge grants 90-day stay for D.C. carry ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, several days after he declared that the District of Columbia&#8217;s ban on the carry of handguns outside the home was unconstitutional, U.S. District Court Judge Fredrick Scullin granted a 90-day stay, thus suspending a citizen&#8217;s right to bear arms for three months during which time city officials have an opportunity to craft new gun laws regulating the carry of firearms in the District.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Scullin wrote &#8220;an immediate 90-day stay is appropriate to provide the city council with an opportunity to enact appropriate legislation consistent with the Court\u2018s,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2014\/jul\/29\/federal-judge-grants-90-day-stay-dc-gun-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"breaking-judge-grants-90-day-stay-d-c-carry-ruling\" title=\"BREAKING: Judge grants 90-day stay for D.C. carry ruling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The stay will remain in effect until Oct. 22, which is a compromise of sorts because D.C. Attorney General Irvin B.
