autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That ruling, issued by the Northern District of Texas, struck down the prohibition on carrying at post offices and on postal property, and barred the government from enforcing it against the plaintiffs, including SAF members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-post-office-gun-ban-struck-down\"><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/post-office-gun-ban-struck-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"saf-post-office-carry-injunction\" title=\"SAF Battles Government Over Post Office Carry Injunction\">Post Office Gun Ban Struck Down<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of accepting that decision, the government immediately moved to restrict the injunction to only a tiny sliver of individuals: the named plaintiffs and only those <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/judge-orders-member-lists-then-backs-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"saf-post-office-carry-injunction\" title=\"SAF Battles Government Over Post Office Carry Injunction\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1432\">SAF and FPC members<\/a> who were already verified members when the case was originally filed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAF Executive <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/vote-adam-kraut-76th-seat-nra-board-directors\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"saf-post-office-carry-injunction\" title=\"SAF Battles Government Over Post Office Carry Injunction\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1431\">Director Adam Kraut<\/a> called out the government\u2019s strategy, noting that officials are \u201cfighting tooth and nail to continue enforcing an unconstitutional law against as many people as possible.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kraut also pushed back on the DOJ\u2019s claim that it would be \u201cimpossible\u201d to tell who is covered by the injunction without a membership list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As he put it, \u201cIf officials want to know if someone found to be carrying at a post office is a SAF member they can simply ask.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAF\u2019s brief points out the obvious flaw in the government\u2019s argument: if asking someone whether they\u2019re covered by the injunction somehow counts as \u201cenforcing\u201d the ban, then no amount of member-identification info would fix the problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government\u2019s position, in other words, makes no practical sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firearmspolicy.org\/fpcgarland\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"saf-post-office-carry-injunction\" title=\"SAF Battles Government Over Post Office Carry Injunction\">FPC v. Bondi<\/a><\/em>, was filed in June 2024 and challenges the long-standing prohibition on carrying firearms in U.S. Post Offices and on postal property.
