Ben Katrib said the deputy drew his firearm, called 911, and gave multiple commands, but Williams allegedly ignored them and opened the passenger door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deputy then fired multiple shots, striking Williams. First responders provided aid, but Williams was pronounced dead at the hospital. So he had a warrant for failure to appear from the last episode,\u201d she told the station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe officer called me when she was there with him on the scene and asked me a lot of questions, and I said, \u2018Ma\u2019am, why don&#8217;t you just take him to the psychiatric ward. He&#8217;s walking into traffic.\u2019 She said, \u2018Oh no, we&#8217;re going to deal with this warrant, he\u2019s going to jail.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his breakdown of the incident, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrcolionnoir.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"armed-dad-with-baby-in-vehicle-faces-carjacker\" title=\"Armed Dad With Baby In Vehicle Faces Carjacker\">Colion Noir<\/a> emphasized the reality of how fast life-and-death situations unfold for armed citizens, especially when family is involved. \u201cImagine buckling your baby into the car seat and someone tries to climb in your car,\u201d Noir said. \u201cWhat do you do?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir noted that while headlines will focus on whether the shooting was justified, the bigger takeaway is what happens in those two or three seconds of chaos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn a defensive gun use, there\u2019s no pause button,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s adrenaline, a baby in the back seat, and a decision that will forever follow you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a tragic convergence: a father acting to protect his child, and a son battling mental illness whose mother had pleaded for help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case will likely hinge on reasonableness and threat perception.
