Within seconds, the would-be victim disarmed the attacker and pinned him to the ground until deputies arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>NBC Los Angeles<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/west-hollywood-rolex-robbery-nbcla-exclusive\/3794899\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\">obtained<\/a> the surveillance footage and 911 audio. The robber\u2019s gun was loaded; a round ejected when the fighter racked <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/the-what-the-why-rack-it-methods-of-closing-the-slide\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1001\">the slide<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His girlfriend grabbed the weapon and tossed it over a fence while neighbors called for help. The suspect\u2019s getaway driver fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-familiar-story-in-a-restrictive-state\"><strong>A Familiar Story in a Restrictive State<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just two weeks earlier and half a mile away, three <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/footage-shows-armed-men-robbing-fresno-gun-store\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1005\">men robbed<\/a> another victim for a Rolex, wedding ring, and phone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These daylight robberies are becoming routine in Los Angeles and, as Colion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrcolionnoir.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\">Noir<\/a> points out, criminals in California seem to have no fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir\u2019s analysis cut straight to the problem: when law-abiding citizens are stripped of their right to carry, criminals operate on \u201ceasy mode.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They assume no one will <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/two-texan-citizens-defend-themselves-during-shootings\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1004\">fight back<\/a> literally or legally. This fighter didn\u2019t <em>want<\/em> to brawl in the street. He simply had no other option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-skill-isn-t-a-substitute-for-a-sidearm\"><strong>Skill Isn\u2019t a Substitute for a Sidearm<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir emphasized that not everyone is a trained fighter. Most people aren\u2019t built to wrestle an <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/donut-shop-worker-turns-tables-armed-robber\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1003\">armed robber<\/a> on the pavement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Second Amendment isn\u2019t about who <em>can<\/em> fight,\u201d he\u2019s said before. \u201cIt\u2019s about who shouldn\u2019t <em>have to<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That truth was on full display here. But if everybody had a gun, this wouldn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir\u2019s takeaway is simple: the right to bear arms isn\u2019t the right to violence it\u2019s the right to avoid it. An armed, law-abiding citizen deters crime before it starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-tale-of-two-states\"><strong>A Tale of Two States<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir drew the comparison many were thinking: imagine the same scene in Texas. Would criminals be jumping out of cars at 1 p.m. to snatch watches? Probably not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHere, criminals don\u2019t know who\u2019s armed,\u201d he notes. \u201cThat fear alone stops a lot of crime before it even happens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In California, the opposite dynamic rules. The state\u2019s patchwork of carry bans, sensitive-place restrictions, and slow <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/pbs-newshour-explores-nycs-tough-gun-permit-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"retired-fighter-turns-tables-west-hollywood-robbery\" title=\"Retired Fighter Turns the Tables in West Hollywood Robbery\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1002\">permit processes<\/a> have disarmed much of the population while violent offenders ignore the rules entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reality-check-from-west-hollywood\"><strong>Reality Check from West Hollywood<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The West Hollywood incident could have ended in tragedy. Instead, it serves as a real-world example of why the 2A matters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One man\u2019s training saved his life because the law had already taken his other option away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Noir often reminds his audience: self-defense isn\u2019t about bravado \u2014 it\u2019s about balance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When citizens can defend themselves, criminals have to think twice.
