Until then, people could easily misinterpret the law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That misinterpretation could get someone in serious trouble. He argues that carrying concealed offers a critical advantage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you expose a firearm, you\u2019re making yourself a target,\u201d he said. \u201cBad guys don\u2019t get scared off by a holstered gun. They\u2019ll try to take it from you and use it against you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judd went even further: \u201cI want you to carry concealed so that if you have to use a firearm to protect yourself or someone else, you have the tactical and surprise advantage. All of that goes away if it\u2019s exposed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That message might surprise some in the pro-gun community, but Judd is speaking from a street-level perspective. Criminals already carry illegally. They\u2019re not fazed by someone wearing a pistol on their hip or slinging an AR-15 across their back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For law-abiding citizens, open carry may feel empowering, but Judd warns it could paint a target on their back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sheriff\u2019s bottom line: open carry may now be legal, but it doesn\u2019t mean open carry everywhere. Florida\u2019s appellate courts have already upheld restrictions, and more legislative action is likely coming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until then, Judd\u2019s advice is simple\u2014stick with concealed carry and avoid risky gray areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you agree with him or not, Judd\u2019s words highlight the reality: the law isn\u2019t as straightforward as it seems, and tactical considerations still matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>What about you?
