NSSF argues the aim was to suppress lawful gun ownership by choking off advertising and commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nssf-s-demands\">NSSF\u2019s Demands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The trade group is asking the FTC to take several steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reaffirm support for Second Amendment rights<\/strong> in line with Trump\u2019s Executive Order.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Review Biden-era actions<\/strong> to determine if commissioners or staff improperly aligned with anti-gun NGOs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Refer findings to the Attorney General<\/strong> for possible follow-up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Make the results public<\/strong> to ensure transparency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Keane warned that without such action, the same playbook could be revived under a future administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-targeting-lawful-advertising\">Targeting Lawful Advertising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF\u2019s letter also challenges the substance of the NGO complaints, which sought to equate firearm advertising with cigarette marketing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group argues there is no evidence that lawful ads \u2014 such as those depicting supervised <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/youth-shooting-sports-alliance-giveaway\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"gun-industry-pressures-ftc-to-expose-anti-2a-ties\" title=\"Gun Industry Pressures FTC to Expose Anti-2A Ties\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"128\">youth shooting sports<\/a> \u2014 cause illegal firearm use by minors. Keane cited a <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ninth-circuit-strikes-down-californias-one-gun-a-month-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"gun-industry-pressures-ftc-to-expose-anti-2a-ties\" title=\"Gun Industry Pressures FTC to Expose Anti-2A Ties\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"127\">Ninth Circuit decision striking down California\u2019s<\/a> ban on \u201cyouth-oriented\u201d gun ads as unconstitutional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter further defends industry practices, noting that advertising firearms for self-defense is not deceptive but consistent with the Second Amendment\u2019s recognition of the right to armed self-protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdvocating self-defense, therefore, cannot constitutionally be subject to government regulation,\u201d NSSF wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-looking-ahead\">Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Keane concluded by framing the issue as central to Trump\u2019s broader effort to roll back Biden-era gun control measures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Second Amendment is foundational to maintaining all other rights held by Americans,\u201d he wrote, urging the FTC to seize the \u201chistoric opportunity\u201d to contribute to the defense of American liberty.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"
