Some things are just so insanely foolish, they can\u2019t be made up. This is one of those. Get in the clown car because this circus is crazy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Michael Bloomberg billionaire-bankrolled gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety is rolling out a new firearm ownership campaign to teach gun owners how to be safe and responsible with the firearms they\u2019re bringing into their homes. It would be easy to dismiss this as the stuff of comedy writers. In fact, it was hardly believable until NSSF staff saw it with their own eyes at the recent National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) held in Boston, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everytown is the same group that wants to ban guns<\/a><\/strong>, require firearm registries<\/a><\/strong>, permits to purchase a firearm<\/a><\/strong>, prohibit young adults<\/a><\/strong> from legally purchasing a firearm<\/strong><\/a>, enact waiting periods<\/a><\/strong> to take possession of legally-purchased firearms, keep guns under constant lock-and-key<\/a><\/strong>, restrict their use to designated areas<\/a><\/strong> and slap exorbitant taxes<\/a><\/strong> and fees just to purchase one. This is the same group that tells people to bring up gun control as Thanksgiving Day conversation<\/a><\/strong>, like a nonchalant weather chat. In short, there isn\u2019t a proposed barrier to lawful firearm ownership Everytown doesn\u2019t support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But they\u2019re pitching themselves as the go-to firearm safety experts. Everytown calls the program \u201cTrain Smart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So-Called \u2018Experts\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s like getting barbecuing lessons from vegans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSSF representatives were on hand when Everytown\u2019s Greg Lickenbrock presented the gun control group\u2019s \u201cGun Ownership 101\u201d class. If that name is \u2013 or isn\u2019t \u2013 familiar, NSSF exposed him for the token \u201cI\u2019m a gun owner too\u201d Fudd<\/a><\/strong> who is the latest in the series that includes, Ryan Busse and David Chipman. One member of NSSF\u2019s staff was quickly recognized and Everytown\u2019s team scurried to ensure Lickenbrock knew he was in the room. That was followed by a polite wave and a smile from NSSF\u2019s representative to Lickenbrock. But here\u2019s what NSSF learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everytown is rolling out their new \u201cTrain Smart\u201d initiative. It appears to be an extension of their \u201cBe Smart\u201d safe firearm storage effort that attempts to mimic NSSF\u2019s awarding winning Project ChildSafe\u00ae<\/sup> campaign<\/a><\/strong>. Project Childsafe, though, doesn\u2019t lean on a foundation of supporting laws requiring guns to be locked. Project Childsafe encourages gun owners to ensure firearms are unavailable to those who should never possess them, including unsupervised children, those suffering a mental health crisis or prohibited individuals. Project ChildSafe encourages gun owners to explore safer firearm storage options that best meet their lifestyle for when firearms are not in use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project ChildSafe has partnered with over 15,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states and five U.S. territories to distribute over 41 million free firearm safety kits, including a locking device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrain Smart\u201d is rolling out several segmented lessons, including \u201cThe Smart Guide to Buying a Gun,\u201d which features a one-hour course for prospective gun buyers who \u201cwant the facts about gun ownership without a sales pitch.\u201d  Everytown will teach those gun buyers about why people own guns, facts surrounding gun ownership, secure storage, protecting a home, \u201cuniversal\u201d guns safety rule and what to look for in a gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the same group that preaches that guns are the root of all evil, claims that gun owners can\u2019t really protect themselves and are actually at greater risk when a gun is in the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note the derogatory \u201csales pitch\u201d language. Gun owners today know that today\u2019s modern gun retailers and ranges are a long way from the \u201chey little lady\u201d stereotype. In fact, of the 26.2 million Americans who became first-time gun owners<\/strong><\/a> over the past five years, the fastest growing segment of that group was African American women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those new gun owners have learned that local firearm retailers and ranges are the primary source for learning to become a safe and responsible gun owner. Those ranges offer lessons, provide advice on storage options and even help explain the laws and responsibilities that come with lawful gun ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s a far cry from headlines that are published by Everytown\u2019s mouthpiece \u201cThe Trace<\/a><\/strong>\u201d or \u201cThe Smoking Gun<\/a><\/strong>\u201d that demonize the firearm industry and gun owners to scare people away from exercising their Second Amendment rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Wait, There\u2019s More.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s not all that Everytown\u2019s bringing to the table with \u201cTrain Smart.\u201d There\u2019s also a two-and-a-half hour \u201cThe Smart Guide to Owning a Firearm\u201d class. That includes all the same topics as the one-hour class but will be presented by \u201can expert\u201d instead of scouring YouTube. So\u2026 same drivel, more time and likely more money to hear from their \u201cexpert.\u201d Those \u201cexperts\u201d are unnamed, but can only be assumed to be those like Lickenbrock, who as a self-described expert lobbied Colorado to ban Modern Sporting Rifles<\/a><\/strong> (MSRs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or gun owners can go ask the real experts at their local firearm retailer and range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everytown\u2019s \u201cTrain Smart\u201d initiative will also host \u201cRaise Standards in Your State\u201d classes, which isn\u2019t even an attempt to hide their efforts to convince people to press for permits and licenses, and instructor certifications, which amazingly can now be provided by the newest firearm training program in town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, if those aren\u2019t enough, Everytown\u2019s \u201cTrain Smart\u201d plans to offer a \u201cTrain Smart Gun Safety & Marksmanship\u201d class, which ought to be hoot, since the gun control group has yet to shoot straight on anything they say. That\u2019s going to be an eight-hour class to teach people how to handle and use firearms responsibly and serve as a role model for others. Topics covered in this class are the same as the other two shorter classes, except they\u2019ll also talk about suicide prevention, de-escalation tactics, pistol marksmanship and\u2026 wait for it\u2026 \u201cand much more.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no word if those classes will include any range time \u2013 or that any gun range would want to host Everytown to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One can only guess that class will have lessons on how to properly dispossess oneself of Second Amendment rights. Here\u2019s a hint\u2026 you shouldn\u2019t just dump a handgun (illegally purchased) in a trash can like Hallie Biden, Beau Biden\u2019s widow who was then dating Hunter Biden<\/a><\/strong>. That\u2019s true no matter how much money Bloomberg<\/a><\/strong> and Everytown<\/a><\/strong> gave to Hunter\u2019s father to push the most radical, antigun agenda yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole thing is so bizarre that it couldn\u2019t possibly be fiction. Honestly\u2026 you just can\u2019t make this stuff up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
