{"id":218318,"date":"2025-07-24T11:27:19","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T16:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/?p=218318"},"modified":"2025-09-30T09:17:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T14:17:35","slug":"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\/","title":{"rendered":"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>William Kirk of Washington Gun Law is back, and this time he\u2019s serving up a spicy reminder: the next time your father-in-law tries to shame you at Thanksgiving for owning a \u201chigh-capacity\u201d magazine, you might want to bring up the Princess Jewelry incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Maybe This is Why Everyone Needs a High Capacity Magazine?\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/s4OP38oUizM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtongunlaw.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\">video<\/a>, Kirk breaks down a wild smash-and-grab attempt that happened on July 19th in Anaheim, California. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0M1DOfFiw7M\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\">mob<\/a> of 18 suspects\u2014yes, eighteen\u2014descended on the jewelry store in broad daylight. But instead of scooping up diamonds, they were met with armed resistance from store owners who weren\u2019t about to let thugs walk out with their livelihood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThey start deploying lethal force because in fact they do have a felony being committed inside their business,\u201d Kirk said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The result? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mob scattered like cockroaches, and nothing was stolen. But here\u2019s the kicker: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/saf-hails-court-ruling-in-california-magazine-limit-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"268\">California has a 10-round magazine limit<\/a>. So while these criminals rolled deep, the good guys were legally limited to what the state thinks is \u201cenough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIn the eyes of the state of California&#8230; they believe that the owners of Princess Jewelry&#8230; were really only entitled to have 10 rounds to preserve their life,\u201d Kirk said. \u201cThat their life is only worth 10 rounds of ammunition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-here-s-how-many-rounds-you-actually-need-in-your-carry-gun\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/how-many-rounds-you-need-carry-gun\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\">Here\u2019s How Many Rounds You Actually Need In Your Carry Gun<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t just a California problem. Kirk rattled off a list of states with similar bans: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/rhode-island-passes-gun-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"269\">Rhode Island<\/a>, Vermont, Washington, and of course, D.C. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In those states, your right to defend yourself is capped\u2014regardless of how many criminals you\u2019re up against.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirk also took a jab at so-called \u201cexperts\u201d like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nera.com\/experts\/a\/lucy-allen.html?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\">Lucy P. Allen<\/a>, a paid analyst for gun control groups, who once claimed that self-defense incidents only require an average of 2.2 rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cMark my words,\u201d Kirk quipped, \u201cin a few years, it&#8217;ll be down to 1.8.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>He warned that some states are already twisting the \u201cin common use\u201d test to justify limits based on averages\u2014meaning we could see laws drop that number to five rounds\u2026 or even fewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In Anaheim, five cars carrying multiple Valedictorians converge in front of Princess Jewelry for a heist until employees begin shooting.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nXQi1SBxeG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\">pic.twitter.com\/nXQi1SBxeG<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Citizen Free Press (@CitizenFreePres) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CitizenFreePres\/status\/1946836487925858594?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"18-reasons-you-might-need-more-than-10-rounds\" title=\"18 Reasons You Might Need More Than 10 Rounds\">July 20, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s the real point: the number of attackers isn\u2019t theoretical anymore. In this case, there were <strong><em>18<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cHad they successfully entered the store&#8230; this could have proven to be quite serious, if not rather deadly,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirk closed the video by urging viewers to know their rights, know the laws in their state, and be prepared to defend themselves with more than government-approved optimism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because when evil rolls in with a crowd, you\u2019ll need more than a handful of
