It was designed in Czechoslovakia largely for export, and its reputation spread quickly once shooters in the West got their hands on one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The design uses a locked-breech system similar to the Browning Hi Power, but the slide rides inside the frame rails instead of outside them. That keeps the bore low and gives the gun a planted feel in recoil. The 75 B can be carried hammer down for a double-action first shot or cocked and locked with the manual safety on. Note that the 75 B safety does not decock the hammer. CZ said the SP-01, SP-01 Tactical, P-01 and 75 D PCR stay in production. We cover the details in <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/cz-75-models-discontinued-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"cz-75-vs-cz-p01-which-to-pick\" title=\"CZ 75 vs CZ P-01: Which Should You Pick in 2026?\">CZ ends production of three classic CZ 75 pistols<\/a>. Dealers and the used market will carry the 75 B for years, and parts and magazines are common, but if you want a new one, do not wait too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-cz-p-01-built-for-police-duty\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The CZ P-01: Built for Police Duty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No mystery here. The P-01 was developed for the Czech National Police, which wanted a lighter, shorter CZ 75 that could survive duty use. It is a compact, not a subcompact. CZ shortened the slide and barrel, switched to an aluminum-alloy frame, added an accessory rail and a lanyard ring, and replaced the manual safety with a decocker. At 15 yards, both shot groups under 3 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CZ 75 had two failures to eject in its first magazine, then ran clean for roughly 1,000 rounds. The P-01 had no failures at all. Neither result points to a reliability problem, and a short break-in period is common with all-steel guns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/cz-75-accuracy.jpg\" alt=\"CZ 75 B group fired at 15 yards\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bigger difference is the double-action trigger. The CZ 75 B&#8217;s double-action pull measured about 7.2 pounds, while the P-01 measured 10 pounds 2 ounces. The single-action pulls were nearly the same at about 4.5 pounds. If you plan to carry the P-01 hammer down, practice that first heavy pull. If you carry a 75 B cocked and locked, you can shoot single action from the first round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The extra weight and longer sight radius of the 75 B make it the softer, easier gun to shoot fast. Field stripping is the same on both pistols. Lock the slide back slightly so the takedown notch lines up, push out the slide stop from the right side, then run the slide off the front of the frame. The P-01 uses a polymer guide rod, while the 75 B uses steel.
