What does that mean for suppressors? <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 4th, President Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/articles\/2025\/07\/president-trumps-one-big-beautiful-bill-is-now-the-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"asa-what-does-one-big-beautiful-bill-mean-for-suppressors\" title=\"ASA: What Does One Big Beautiful Bill Mean for Suppressors?\">signed<\/a> the <em>One Big Beautiful Bill<\/em> into law. Starting January 1st, the $200 tax stamp for suppressors, <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/search?keyword=short-barreled%20shotguns\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"asa-what-does-one-big-beautiful-bill-mean-for-suppressors\" title=\"ASA: What Does One Big Beautiful Bill Mean for Suppressors?\">short-barreled shotguns<\/a>, and other NFA items will disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams says that alone yanks $200 million a year out of the government\u2019s hands \u2014 and out of your wallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/intruder-youll-have-to-kill-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"asa-what-does-one-big-beautiful-bill-mean-for-suppressors\" title=\"ASA: What Does One Big Beautiful Bill Mean for Suppressors?\"><strong>Intruder: \u2018You\u2019ll Have to Kill Me\u2019 \u2014 Missouri Homeowner Obliges<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But ASA didn\u2019t just want the tax gone. They wanted suppressors completely deleted from the NFA\u2019s registry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They almost pulled it off \u2014 the House passed it, thanks in large part to Rep. Andrew Clyde\u2019s push \u2014 but the Senate parliamentarian blocked the full removal, ruling it didn\u2019t meet the strict budget-only rules for reconciliation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams called her ruling \u201cinexcusable\u201d and \u201cfactually inaccurate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-inside-baseball\"><strong>The Inside Baseball<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams didn\u2019t hold back. He explained exactly how ASA and its allies built the repeal language, fought to prove it was budget-relevant (the NFA <em>is<\/em> just a tax, after all), and got a majority on board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But with Senate leadership unwilling to fire the parliamentarian or override her decision, they played it smart: keep the tax kill and set up the next move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDropping the tax to zero blows up the NFA\u2019s justification,\u201d Williams said. Without a tax, the registry stands on thin constitutional ice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next step? ASA is <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/2a-groups-sue-to-kill-nfa-after-trump-bill-passes\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"asa-what-does-one-big-beautiful-bill-mean-for-suppressors\" title=\"ASA: What Does One Big Beautiful Bill Mean for Suppressors?\">teaming up<\/a> with the Firearms Policy Coalition, NRA, and Second Amendment Foundation to launch a federal lawsuit targeting what\u2019s left of the NFA\u2019s suppressor rules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Details are coming soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-meanwhile-on-guam\"><strong>Meanwhile, on Guam\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Capitol fight raged, ASA also racked up progress in America\u2019s territories. Guam\u2019s legislature passed the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hearing-protection-act-reintroduced\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"asa-what-does-one-big-beautiful-bill-mean-for-suppressors\" title=\"ASA: What Does One Big Beautiful Bill Mean for Suppressors?\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"323\">Hearing Protection Act<\/a> of 2025<\/em> to legalize suppressors by an 11-4 vote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gov. Guerrero <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuam.com\/story\/52859780\/governor-signs-19-bills-into-law-and-vetoes-five-bills\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"asa-what-does-one-big-beautiful-bill-mean-for-suppressors\" title=\"ASA: What Does One Big Beautiful Bill Mean for Suppressors?\">vetoed<\/a> it (again), but this time Senator William Parkinson says he\u2019s got a veto-proof majority ready to override her when the legislature reconvenes in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that happens, Guam will become the first U.S. territory to let citizens protect their hearing with suppressors.
