You warn them you\u2019re armed. Their only response? \u201cYou\u2019ll have to kill me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s exactly what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kfvs12.com\/2025\/06\/28\/scott-county-sheriff-shooting-clear-case-self-defense\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"intruder-youll-have-to-kill-me\" title=\"Intruder: 'You\u2019ll Have to Kill Me' -- Missouri Homeowner Obliges\">happened in Scott County<\/a>, Missouri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Sheriff Derick Wheetley, a homeowner shot and killed 31-year-old intruder John Fisher after he forced his way into the house on County Road 244. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The homeowner fired four shots, ending the threat on the spot. Breaking into someone\u2019s home while they\u2019re there, then arrogantly saying \u201cYou\u2019ll have to kill me,\u201d shows how delusional some criminals are. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir said criminals often count on victims being helpless. This time, that assumption got Fiser killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that while he\u2019s remained silent in similar situations, he understands the instinct to give a warning before shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t say I wouldn\u2019t have done the exact same thing that the homeowner did,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet he recalled the last time someone tried to break into his home: \u201cI didn\u2019t say a damn word. I just waited silently at the top of the stairs, gun in one hand and the police on the phone in the other.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But he warned that in states like California, a homeowner in this situation could end up arrested and prosecuted, even when acting in self-defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMr. Glastetter acted in self-defense in accordance with Missouri Revised Statutes Section 563.031, which governs the justifiable use of force in defense of persons,&#8221; said Wheetley.  &#8220;This appears to be a tragic but clear case of self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir agreed, noting Missouri got it right.
