A proposed merger between the ATF and DEA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"BREAKING NOW! And gun rights groups aren\u2019t having it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Second Amendment Foundation (<a href=\"https:\/\/saf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-dea-merger-a-trojan-horse-for-2a\" title=\"ATF-DEA Merger a Trojan Horse for 2A?\">SAF<\/a>), along with GOA, CCRKBA, CRPA, and other heavy hitters, fired off a <a href=\"https:\/\/saf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/12-Problems-With-ATF-DEA-Merger.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-dea-merger-a-trojan-horse-for-2a\" title=\"ATF-DEA Merger a Trojan Horse for 2A?\">letter<\/a> to Attorney General Pam Bondi telling her to slam the brakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why? Because giving the ATF more agents, more budget, and DEA-level surveillance powers is basically handing a toddler a chainsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAF\u2019s Adam Kraut was highly critical. He pointed out the ATF\u2019s greatest hits\u2014wrongfully busting <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/justin-trudeau-assault-weapon-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-dea-merger-a-trojan-horse-for-2a\" title=\"ATF-DEA Merger a Trojan Horse for 2A?\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"382\">legal gun owners<\/a>, tanking small FFLs with paperwork traps, and escalating situations that have turned deadly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now imagine all that, but with access to high-end intel tools and drug war resources. Yeah. In their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/goa-condemns-doj-proposal-to-merge-atf-and-dea-a-trojan-horse-for-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-dea-merger-a-trojan-horse-for-2a\" title=\"ATF-DEA Merger a Trojan Horse for 2A?\">press release<\/a>, they called the merger a \u201cTrojan Horse for gun control.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Erich Pratt, the DEA\u2019s militarized structure would \u201csupercharge ATF\u2019s war on the Second Amendment.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sam Paredes said what everyone\u2019s thinking: this isn\u2019t about efficiency\u2014it\u2019s about building a bigger hammer to crush gun rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even a couple of senators\u2014Lindsey Graham and Jerry Moran\u2014jumped in to throw flags on the play. And when those two agree on something, you know it\u2019s weird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, here\u2019s the deal: the feds want to build the ultimate alphabet agency, and gun rights groups are <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/a-g-s-finally-call-b-s-on-the-atf\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"atf-dea-merger-a-trojan-horse-for-2a\" title=\"ATF-DEA Merger a Trojan Horse for 2A?\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"383\">calling B.S.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re warning that if we let this fusion happen, the ATF will go from obnoxious to outright terrifying. And with a future anti-gun administration? Yikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bottom line: This isn&#8217;t a merger. It&#8217;s a hostile takeover\u2014of your rights. Call your reps. Call the DOJ. And maybe start designing your &#8220;ATF-DEA Task Force&#8221; parody patches now.
