Rep. Darrell Issa and Sen. Joni Ernst just reintroduced the FIREARM Act, aiming to stop ATF overreach against law-abiding gun dealers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill<\/a>\u2014Fighting Irrational Regulatory Enforcement to Avert Retailers\u2019 Misfortune\u2014creates safe harbor for clerical errors by Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) and reins in heavy-handed enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Issa blasted Biden-era ATF tactics, calling them \u201ca transparently unfair assault\u201d on Second Amendment rights and small businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ernst echoed that sentiment, saying, \u201cMy\u00a0FIREARM Act<\/em>\u00a0disarms the out-of-control ATF and ensures that the rights of law-abiding gun owners are protected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill bans the ATF\u2019s zero-tolerance policies. It gives gun dealers<\/a> 30 days to fix non-willful violations and defines \u201cwillful\u201d more narrowly. It also allows judicial review of license revocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSSF<\/a> and FRAC<\/a>, two major firearms industry groups, back the bill. They say it restores due process and protects retailers from political weaponization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
