Estados Unidos Mexicanos<\/em>\u2014was dismissed under the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), and the ruling is being celebrated as a major win for both U.S. sovereignty and the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Supreme Court blocks lawsuit against gun manufacturers filed by Mexican government\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bpNBRCWcSVY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">SCOTUS unanimously spiked Mexico&#8217;s lawsuit against American firearm manufacturers. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gun Owners of America (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/goa-celebrates-supreme-court-smackdown-of-mexican-gun-control-lawsuit-a-massive-victory-for-u-s-sovereignty-and-the-second-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\">GOA<\/a>), the National Shooting Sports Foundation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/nssf-celebrates-unanimous-scotus-decision-in-smith-wesson-v-estados-unidos-mexicanos\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\">NSSF<\/a>), and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (<a href=\"https:\/\/ccrkba.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\">CCRKBA<\/a>) all filed briefs and responded swiftly to the news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a massive victory for the Second Amendment and American sovereignty,\u201d said GOA Federal Affairs Director Aidan Johnston. \u201cThe Mexican government\u2014whose citizens are disarmed and whose officials are often complicit in cartel crime\u2014tried to scapegoat U.S. gun companies for its own failure to secure its borders and protect its people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOA\u2019s Erich Pratt called the ruling \u201ca powerful reminder that Americans don\u2019t answer to globalists or foreign governments,\u201d adding, \u201cMexico\u2019s gun control dystopia has empowered cartels and disarmed the innocent\u2014and now they want to export that disaster to the U.S. The Supreme Court just told them: \u2018Not on our soil.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-sig-sauer-cross-sawtooth-magnum\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-sig-sauer-cross-sawtooth-magnum\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\">SIG Sauer Cross Sawtooth Magnum<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of the Court\u2019s opinion, authored by Justice Elena Kagan, was a strong rebuke of the lawsuit\u2019s logic. The justices wrote that Mexico\u2019s case \u201cattempts an end-run around the PLCAA,\u201d and emphasized that Congress passed the law to stop exactly these kinds of suits\u2014where gun makers are blamed for the criminal misuse of firearms by third parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it gets better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In what may be the most significant line for future 2A litigation, the Court pointed out that the Mexican government specifically targeted AR-15s, <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/search?keyword=ak-47\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\">AK-47<\/a>s, and .50 cals, noting that \u201cthose products are both widely legal and bought by many ordinary consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also stated, plainly, that \u201cthe <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/search?keyword=AR%E2%80%9315\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\">AR\u201315<\/a> is the most popular rifle in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF hailed the decision as \u201ca tremendous victory for the <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/anti-gun-states-renew-attacks-on-lawful-firearm-industry-in-new-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"476\">firearm industry<\/a> and the rule of law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis unequivocal decision by the <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/u-s-supreme-court-weighs-mexicos-claims-to-get-around-plcaa\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"scotus-shuts-down-mexicos-gun-control-lawsuit\" title=\"SCOTUS Shuts Down Mexico\u2019s Gun Control Lawsuit\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"477\">Supreme Court that PLCAA<\/a> applies and there is no evidence whatsoever that U.S. manufacturers are in any way responsible is verification of [our] commitment to responsible firearm ownership,\u201d said NSSF Senior VP and General Counsel Lawrence Keane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb was blunt: \u201cThankfully, the Supreme Court recognized this lawsuit was nonsense in the first place, and that the appellate court\u2019s decision needed to be reversed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He warned that the real goal of Mexico\u2019s lawsuit wasn\u2019t justice, but to \u201cfinancially drain American firearms manufacturers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gottlieb added, \u201cWe know the gun ban bunch has been trying for years to stop gun sales and erase the Second Amendment\u2026 Before attacking our house, Mexico needs to get its own house in order.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>What are your thoughts?
