During a House Rules Committee meeting, Dean melted down over the number of suppressors sold annually\u2014she calculated it to be 700,000 per year\u2014and openly complained about how many Americans are enjoying their Second Amendment rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even worse, Dean proposed <em>raising<\/em> the tax to $400 to choke off sales. &#8220;If we tripled it, you might actually discourage some sales of silencers,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Wouldn\u2019t that be a good thing for us to be doing in this committee?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So there it is in plain English: <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/dana-loesch-anti-gunners-arent-really-anti-gun\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rep-madeleine-dean-wants-to-triple-the-tax-on-suppressors\" title=\"Anti-Gunner Wants to Triple the Tax on Suppressors\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"543\">anti-gunners aren\u2019t<\/a> interested in safety, they\u2019re interested in control. If they can\u2019t outright ban something, they\u2019ll tax it into oblivion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prohibition is the endgame, as NRA-ILA noted\u2014and if this <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/nevada-senate-criminalize-private-transfers\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rep-madeleine-dean-wants-to-triple-the-tax-on-suppressors\" title=\"Anti-Gunner Wants to Triple the Tax on Suppressors\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"542\">bill passes the Senate<\/a> and becomes law, it\u2019ll be a hard blow to that agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gun owners should celebrate this moment\u2014but also stay sharp.
