Just when you think New York couldn\u2019t get any more anti-gun, they go full clown show\u2014this time targeting Walmart for selling toy guns. Not real guns. Not even airsoft guns with metal internals. We\u2019re talking about plastic toys<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release<\/a> from Attorney General Letitia James\u2019 office, a “sting” operation led to Walmart getting slapped with $16,000 in penalties and fees<\/a>. Why? Because third-party sellers on Walmart\u2019s website shipped nine<\/em> toy guns<\/a> to addresses in New York. That\u2019s right\u2014nine.<\/p>\n\n\n

What were the crimes? The toy guns looked too real. As in, they were black or silver instead of neon green or see-through. That violates New York\u2019s ban on selling imitation firearms that aren\u2019t brightly colored or transparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James claims these toys “can be used to engage in unlawful activity” and have been linked to tragic incidents. And while there\u2019s no doubt that tragic things happen when toy guns are mistaken for the real thing, you\u2019d think New York might focus on, say, actual<\/em> violent crime? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, their top law enforcement agency is spending taxpayer dollars trying to entrap big-box retailers over $20 toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s be honest\u2014this isn\u2019t about safety. It\u2019s about control and optics. NYC has a crime problem, a recidivism problem, and a public safety credibility problem. But sure, let\u2019s put the AG\u2019s crack team of data scientists and complex litigation lawyers on… TOY GUNS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And for what? A $14,000 fine? That’s couch cushion money to Walmart. But the message is loud and clear: in New York, it\u2019s not just the Second Amendment under attack\u2014it\u2019s common sense itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is what happens when a state turns fear into policy. When plastic toys trigger a government sting, we\u2019re well past the point of parody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, lawful gun owners still face insane hurdle<\/a>s to carry a real firearm for actual protection. But hey\u2014at least the toy gun task force<\/a> is on the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
