The proof of that is over 1.2 million times in April, Americans freely approached the counter at their local firearm retailer to take lawful ownership of a firearm. These gun buyers did so with a commitment by the Trump administration that their Second Amendment rights would be protected and they wouldn\u2019t be ostracized by their government for exercising rights protected by the U.S. Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-state-by-state-leaders-for-april-background-checks\">State-by-State Leaders for April Background Checks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Texas, Florida, California, Pennsylvania, and Colorado led the nation in total <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/nssf-adjusted-nics-background-checks-for-november-2020-highest-november-on-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"over-1-2-million-april-background-checks\" title=\"Over 1.2 Million April Background Checks\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"608\">adjusted background checks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/firearms\/handguns\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"over-1-2-million-april-background-checks\" title=\"Over 1.2 Million April Background Checks\">handgun<\/a> checks, the top five states were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Texas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Florida<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pennsylvania<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>California<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colorado<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For long gun checks, the leaderboard remained similar, with Texas still dominating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-important-context-on-background-check-data\">Important Context on Background Check Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF notes that these numbers don\u2019t include all legal gun sales. In 24 states, individuals with valid concealed carry permits\u2014already background-checked\u2014can purchase firearms without an additional NICS check. The adjusted numbers also remove permit-related checks to better focus on transactions likely tied to retail sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So while NICS checks aren\u2019t a direct sales metric, they provide a strong pulse of the firearms market\u2014and that pulse is steady.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-bottom-line\">The Bottom Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Millions of Americans continue to exercise their rights, regardless of slight monthly variations. With support from the White House and strong 2A advocacy, the message is clear: Gun ownership isn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"
